Short Description
This course covers fundamentals of computer architecture as well as function and architecture of modern operating systems and IT systems which are adopted in medical and bio informatics. Furthermore, the students acquire knowledge of protocol architecture and functional principles of network technologies.
Learning Objectives

Fundamental understanding of computer architecture, IT systems and ar-chitecture and function of modern operating systems which are adopted in medical and Bionformatics. Knowledge of resource management, algorithms and strategies, as well as implementation concepts for the most important operating system components. Furthermore, comprehension of basic architecture and functional principles of computer networks. This includes - among the OSI reference model and others, principals of protocol technologies for network and applications. Focus is set on basics concern-ing Internet and relevant application services.
Students are able to solve practical exercises on the contents of this course independently.

  • Fundamentals of secure data transmission
  • Basics regarding Ethernet and Internet protocols
  • Basics regarding Internet services and applications
