Fit for the thesis in a nutshell - Literature research: Finding, evaluating and securing sources
In the course “Fit for the Thesis compact” we show you how to plan, conduct and evaluate the research for your thesis.
These topics are the main focus:
- Analysis of one's own literature needs
- Search in THMfind, the university library's search portal
- Search in literature, full-text and factual databases
- Search in scientific search engines
- Search strategies
- Evaluating the sources found
- Securing the found sources
Target group:
THM students writing their theses. Students who already have a topic or idea will have the opportunity to research their chosen topic and document their findings during the event. Students who don't yet have an idea will receive tips on how to gain an initial overview of current topics.
Format:
- Online using the Zoom software
or - Hybrid: You can participate on-site at the Friedberg or Gießen library or online using the Zoom software.
- Duration: 90 minutes

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is part of everyday university life. AI can simplify your literature research. At the same time, the use of AI is associated with risks and challenges.
In the course "Research with AI - Smart search , stay critical" we show you what possibilities AI offers you to plan and carry out your literature research.
These topics are the main focus:
- Presentation of individual AI tools
- Planning a literature review using AI tools
- Conducting a literature review in AI tools
- Opportunities, risks and challenges of using AI tools for research
Target audience:
Members of THM. Please also note the THM recommendations on AI and examinations.
