Citavi supports you in all steps of academic work. That starts with the research. With the Citavi Picker, bibliographic data and full texts can be “picked up” from catalogues, databases or PDFs. When you enter the ISBN (International Standard Book Number) or DOI (Digital Object Identifier), Citavi imports the necessary bibliographic data.
knowledge organization
The "knowledge organization" helps to bring order to the collected information. It provides several tools for this. The literature can be categorized and organized. Quotations can be taken from each text, arranged systematically and combined with your own ideas and first text drafts. In this way, the stock of information and knowledge on the work topic is constantly growing.

Citavi also supports the writing of academic papers.
The software works with almost all word processing programs - including LaTeX editors. With a click of the mouse, the collected quotations and thoughts are transferred to the text and bibliographical references to the footnote. After selecting one of over 10,000 citation styles, Citavi automatically creates a bibliography.
We currently recommend that you do not switch to Citavi 7 or install Citavi 7, but rather use a previous version. Please note this information from the software manufacturer:
"We have carefully modernized the interface and integrated some exciting AI functions. We warmly invite you to try out Citavi 7 and see for yourself what's new. Please note that the new version still has some imperfections that we have noted in the will be resolved in the coming weeks. We therefore recommend not rolling out Citavi 7 across the board for the time being."

For the version of Microsoft Office 365 maintained by THM, you need the following workaround to set up the Citavi Assistant:
- Log out of Microsoft Office with the account you created with your THM email address.
- If you don't have one, create a personal account for Microsoft Office.
- Sign in with your private Microsoft Office account.
- Search Citavi Assistant in the Office Store as you now have access to add-ins.
- Set up the Citavi Assistant.
You should now be able to use the Citavi Assistant of the Citavi Web version in Microsoft Office 365.
Please note: If Microsoft Office 365 requires activation, please log out of your private Microsoft Office account and switch to your account with your THM email address. Once you have completed the activation, you should switch back to your private Microsoft Office account.

EndNote
online search
EndNote enables literature research in national and international library catalogs and databases. The data found can be saved in EndNote via an import function.
knowledge organization
The collected literature can be logically summarized and structured using group sets and Boolean operators. This helps to maintain an overview during online research in EndNote and to recognize new relevant hits directly.

- When installing on Microsoft Windows, unzip the zip file.
This creates two files: An installer file called "EN20Inst.msi" and a license file called "License.dat". Both files must be in the same directory when the installer is run. Then run the installation. In the case of an installation under MacOS, the installation can take place directly after the download.
- Follow the respective instructions of the installation wizard. The license data is automatically stored during installation.
