Digital Object Identifier (DOI)

Text documents or research data is assigned a unique identifier using DOI to ensure that the findability and reference can be found.

A DOI leads to a so -called landing page of a publication, from where, in addition to the descriptive bibliographical metadata such as title, author: in, publication date and other identifiers, the file can also be called up with the research publication. The link to the respective landing page and the descriptive metadata are entered at a central point by the provider of the respective publication. This can be, for example, publisher, magazine or repository supervisor. Moving from pages on which the respective publication can be called up are not a problem as long as the links are updated at a central location. The DOI, on the other hand, remains the same - that is persistent - so that references and cited do not have to check whether the document is accessible.

Open Researcher and Contributors ID (Orcid)

An orcid ID serves the clear and permanent identification of author: inside. By assigning a unique number, a distinction between people is also possible with the same name. Change of name, variants or pseudonyms, so -called "Pen Names", are kept centrally in the metadata of the orcid profile.

By naming the orcid ID on publications, they can clearly be assigned to a person-many magazine, conference or publication platform-owners therefore ask them when a manuscript is submitted. This makes it easier to research according to the publications of a person and increase their visibility. Indexing errors in databases can also be collected because the ID allows a clear assignment.
