Who we are
In its 25 years since founding, the BliZ Study Centre for Blind and Disabled Students of Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen - University of Applied Sciences (THM) near Frankfurt has been caring for over a thousand severely disabled students, with an impressively high academic achievement rate as far as some PhDs. BliZ‘ 13 staff, some of them blind, carry through all the necessary counseling, technical adjustments, and successful professional placements for students of the most diverse conditions. Moreover, BliZ has been sending and hosting numerous blind and disabled exchange students to and from all over the world.

Disabled students require special services from their Universities. These range from counselling, providing accessible learning experience, to special conditions in examinations. In particular, visually impaired and blind students need access to digital and physical contents, requiring staff to command a certain expertise.
Increasingly, disabled and chronically ill students desire to go abroad during their studies, whether for English-taught courses or Anglophone industrial internships. Thereby, these young talents increase their intercultural knowledge and enhance their professional perspective.

Special incentives and generous disability-related funding are available for placements from and to Germany.
Upon negotiation, English-taught subjects are available according to the curricular needs of the individual student and English internships in the world-class German industry can be arranged.
