kommasSince I always had a handful of things to do, I was surprised to realize how fast the time went by. Mid-January, I will go on my final road trip – first through the inner states, then to the east coast.

It goes without saying that I travelled a lot during my off-time from work. During my international internship, I used the weekends to go on trips to the surrounding cities as well as their landscapes – such as New York, Philadelphia, and Washington.

Right after the first week, I enjoyed my first trip to Philly. Throughout the next weekends, I covered New York, Boston, the Niagara Falls southeast of Toronto, then Philadelphia, New York again and – last but not least – Washington D.C. Each trip was awesome in its own right in various ways. Be it the Time Square in New York or its skyline, the Washington Memorials or the White House, the Niagara Falls – and the list goes on and on. Each area had at the very least one highlight which would justify a trip of its own.

My weekend tours consumed most of my time. Since I work until 17:00 during weekdays and since it gets dark early during the winter period, I do not have a lot of time for other activities. Occasionally, I go to the gym, attend sport events (football, basketball, and ice hockey), or meet friends. After a workday, I sometimes go out with my co-workers, who teach me the typical American lifestyle. I sometimes go hunting with them, for example, or to the shooting range. Since attaining a hunters license is no problem in the US, I could easily take up this invitation.

Regarding work, I’m just about at the end of my internship period. After this week, I’ll only work for two more weeks in January, to then go on my final trip. As early as my winter holidays, I will seize the opportunity to go on a road trip from Allentown to Miami. I plan to make multiple stops on this way – including Shenandoah National Park or cities such as Atlanta, Charlotte or Savannah. This trip will take about ten to eleven days.

After my internship, I’ll first travel through the inner parts of the US (stopping in Chicago, Dallas, Houston, and Phoenix within approximately eight days), followed by a three-week trip to the east coast. Here, I plan to start in San Diego, where I’ll also meet an old colleague that will travel together with me, whereas Seattle is our final destination. In between, I’ll also make stops in the major metropolitan areas such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and many national parks.

My flight back to Germany is scheduled to February 13th, 2017 in Seattle. I’m hyped for all these trips and also for the rest of my internship. Since I always had a handful of things to do, I was surprised to realize how fast the time went by, and that New Year's is in no less than two weeks – so that I’m almost at the end of my stay in the US.
