Jochen Frey was awarded the diploma in electrical engineering by Siegen University in 2001; his area of specialization was microelectronics. Consecutively, he completed his doctorate in the area of CMOS image sensors for 3D space detection and tracking in 2007. Jochen Frey worked in the industries as an analog/mixed signal designer and team leader for nine years, while participating in multiple product development and research projects.

In 2011, he became a professor lecturing at THM, EI department. His research fields are the development of analog/mixed signal circuits as well as sensorics and measurement technologies.

After completing his professional training as an electrical engineer for automation technologies, Jonathan Bier started his Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s program (B.Eng.) at THM, which he completed in March 2015. As part of his phase of work experience as well as his Bachelor’s thesis he collaborated with Audi China in Peking. In October 2016, he completed his consecutive Electrical and Information Technologies Master’s program (M.Sc.) at THM.

Since November 2016, Jonatan Bier works at THM, EI department as a research assistant as part of his Doctor’s program in collaboration with Philipps-University Marburg. The aim of his research thesis is the development of a highly sensible optical measurement system for the quantitative detection of biological markers.

Malte Nickel completed his Bachelor’s program at THM in 2016, with automation technologies as his area of specialization. He then went on to achieve his Master's degree in the consecutive degree program of Electrical and Information Technologies. 

Currently, he is a research assistant for the Electrical and Informations Technologies department. His research field is the optical analysis of nanostructured surfaces.
