Cathrin Schröder studied Electrical Engineering, specializing in Automation Technology, with a focus on Measurement and Control Engineering, at Leibniz University Hannover, earning a degree as a Diplom Engineer in 2004. She was honored by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology with an award for outstanding achievement for the highly successful completion of her diploma studies. Subsequently, she began her doctoral project at Clausthal University of Technology, sponsored by an energy supply company. In her dissertation, which led to her PhD in Engineering in 2009, she developed a simulation method for gas distribution networks based on control engineering approaches, which provides previously unknown pipeline data for controlling the networks in the control room. She then took over the project management for the construction of industrial bio natural gas plants at a subsidiary of E.ON in 2009 and was responsible for the electrical, control and automation technology of all plants in operation and under construction. At the same company, she was then project manager for the construction and grid connection of combined heat and power plants. Since 2013, she holds the professorship of Electrical Power Engineering and Control Systems at THM in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.
