Oleg (23) is in his fifth semester of Automation Engineering (B.Eng.). Before his Bachelor, he trained as an electrician and wants to continue his studies with a Master's program. Oleg is part of our department's student council and advises everyone to join.

kommasAs a member of the department's student council, you gain useful insider knowledge of university politics!

OlegA fellow student tole me about the student council, which he had already joined during his first semester. After attending one of the council meetings, I also decided to become a member. Apart from the fact that I enjoy the work and responsibility I have as a member of the student council, one of the convincing factors for me was that I can actively participate in THM's university politics, thereby gaining access to informtion a student would otherwise not have.

As student council, we try to help with any questions about lectures and classes, as well as with any exam-related problems. We can offer advice on effective study methods and how to organize your studies - especially to first-year students. Most of our members are sophomores and therefore have a lot of experience. Most of them are also members of other committees - such as the audit committee - and can pass on problems directly.

If anyone needs to use THM’s facilities and/or equipment for their own projects, students can come to us and we can contact the respective persons in response for them.

At the beginning of the semester, it is one of the student council's well-established traditions to organize bar hoppings, where you can acquire your "Ludwigstraßen Certificate" during the first weeks of your studies in Giessen. Additionally, we organize meetings for our department's freshmen and sophomores alike, where you can get into contact with fellow students, and learn more about Giessen and its surroundings.

During the summer semesters we welcome everyone from our department - professors and staff included - to join our "department BBQ", and every semester we contribute to the organization of our department's graduation party.
