On January 25th and 26th, the University Info Event (UIE) 2017 took place at THM, University of Applied Sciences Giessen-Friedberg. Students from educational institutes of all kinds — female and male alike — had the opportunity to inform themselves about the possibilities provided by the THM departments. At our department, one gained insight into our Bachelor’s degree programs "Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies" (ELI) as well as "Electrical Engineering for Renewable Energies" (ERE).

Besides essentials concerning prospective job opportunities in the industries for graduates, our professors Frey and Schröder explained the curricula of the programs and how they relate to our consecutive Master’s and Doctor’s degree programs. The fields space technologies and nanoelectronics were each represented by one of our doctorands, introducing exciting research topics.

After an expert lecture on the development of an e-scooter (reminiscent of the Segway PTs) for those interested in ELI, as well as an expert lecture on Germany’s turn to renewable energies for those interested in ERE, a tour through our department’s various laboratories was embarked on. Here, one could gather first-person experience about where and how our students learn and work during the semesters — while asking questions.
