In our "Information Transmission" laboratory course, students learn to directly apply the theoretical fundamentals acquired in the accompanying courses, to operate state-of-the-art measurement devices as well as to conduct, interpret and document practical experiments on their own.

Every experiment is described in great detail in our experiment manuals. Additionally, we provide the instruction manuals and technical documentation of the measurement device manufacturers.

The topics covered by our practice-oriented laboratory course are information transmission via cable, waveguide, fiber-optics and radio waves. This primarily encompasses transmission theory, attenuation, reflection, signal propagation and signal distortion, amplification, modulation, spectrum and interference. To analyze the correlating properties, we provide our students with state-of-the-art measurement devices, including storage oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, OTDR and network analyzers.
