BIKO - Counseling in intercultural conflicts
The BIKO team enables all students at THM to report incidents of racially motivated discrimination, discuss them confidentially, and develop solutions. We offer support in cases of discrimination based on external characteristics such as skin color or clothing, ethnic origin, religious affiliation, and/or worldview.
BliZ - Barrier-free studies
The BliZ offers optimal support for chronically ill and disabled students. The goal is to reduce various barriers to their studies. Through individualized accommodations, students are enabled to complete their studies smoothly, thus preventing disability-related delays or even the need to drop out.
Family-friendly university
The Family-Friendly University team is the first point of contact and guide for students with family responsibilities. The team offers the following services and is available to answer your questions on the following topics: Individual and personal consultations on family-related issues such as childcare (babysitting subsidies, holiday care, daycare places), accommodations for students with disabilities (pregnancy, care during illness of a child or close relative who is primarily cared for alone), pregnancy and maternity leave, parent-child rooms in buildings A10 and D14 in Gießen and on the Friedberg and Wetzlar campuses, diaper-changing facilities at all THM locations, and events for students with children.

University Library
Learn herehow you can effectively use the university library's media and services for your studies right from the start. You will learn how to search for media in THMfind, how to use e-media, how to borrow print media, and about the Learning Space+.

International Office
The International Office supports international students and those interested in studying abroad in achieving their goals from the start of their studies to their entry into the workforce. The Incoming Team accompanies you with the Welcome & Stay International program and provides guidance. The Outgoing Team offers concrete support in planning, organizing, and financing your study abroad experience – from one week to a full year.
IT service for students
The InfoCenter offers support for THM's IT services. Please feel free to contact the team if you have any questions about your THM user account, Wi-Fi, or VPN. You can also obtain information about software licenses, THM Webmail, and other IT services you use during your studies.

SmB/K - Studying with a disability or chronic illness
Martin Jung is the representative for students with disabilities and chronic illnesses (SmB/K). He can provide support if you have a disability, a serious chronic illness, or a mental health condition. You will be offered confidential advice throughout your studies, for example, on adapted, accessible academic records (health-related accommodations) or on financing your studies.

Language Center
The Language Center at THM offers foreign language courses for all departments, providing optimal preparation for using the foreign language in a professional context. The courses are taught by qualified instructors and are precisely tailored to the specific requirements of each department. In addition to numerous required and elective courses in English for specific subjects, you can also take courses in Chinese, French, Spanish, and German as a foreign language.
Student Secretariat
The THM Student Services Office handles a wide range of organizational tasks for current and prospective students.
The team is responsible for admissions and selection procedures for first-semester students, as well as for students transferring from another university or degree program to a higher semester. They also manage enrollment and deregistration processes, and handle re-registration. The Student Services Office is your contact point for requests for leaves of absence, part-time studies, or inquiries from prospective auditors. For questions regarding your chip card, the Chip Card Service team is happy to assist you.
Student Union Gießen
The Gießen Student Union offers comprehensive services to students of the THM (Technical University of Central Hesse) before and during their studies. It ensures that students find affordable housing and itself rents out approximately 3,500 dormitory rooms at the university locations in Gießen and Friedberg.
Students also receive comprehensive advice, for example, on study financing options (BAföG, scholarships, student loans) as well as general social counseling. Furthermore, the student union operates the cafeterias at the THM, providing students with hot and cold meals, snacks, and drinks at any time.
