Lobes with depressions and reticulately ridged; with soralia; isidioid protuberances arising from soralia (see lowest photo), laminal and marginal, cylindrical. Medulla  K+ yellow-orange, C-, KC+ yellow-orange, Pd+ orange. (The similar L. macaronesica has true isidia. L. immixta is not sorediate, isidia are marginal and flat; medulla C+ red).

Lobes with shallow depressions, weakly ridged; whith blue-grey soralia or isidia at the lobe margins; apothecia rare. Medulla K+ yellow,  C-, KC+ orange to pink, Pd+ orange. The only Lobaria whith cyanobacteria in Macaronesia.
