Cetraria aculeata (Schreb.) Fr. On acid soil. Branches up to 4 cm high (up to 1mm diam.), with short marginal projections; minor branches rounded but older ± flattened, hollow or with loose medullary hyphae (see lowest photo); often with white pseudocyphellae near the axils. Spot reactions negative. The similar C. muricata is smaller (up to 3 cm), the branches are more terete (up to 0.5 mm wide) and the medulla is solid. Central Europe: Gemany. |
