Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Jennifer Hannig is a Professor of Artificial Intelligence at Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen – University of Applied Sciences (THM) and at hessian.AI, the Hessian Center for Artificial Intelligence. She heads the Applied Artificial Intelligence Lab as well as the BMFTR-funded junior research group “TimeXAI: Explainable Artificial Intelligence for Time Series.”

The Applied Artificial Intelligence Lab is affiliated with THM’s Department of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Data Processing and the Centre of Competence for Information Technology (KITE). Its research focuses on trustworthy and explainable artificial intelligence. The lab develops methods that make AI systems transparent and understandable, particularly when processing complex and multimodal data such as time series, images, and video, and applies these approaches in real-world systems.

Since 2023, Jennifer Hannig has also served as a member of THM’s Investigation Committee for Safeguarding Good Scientific Practice. In addition, she is a mentor in Mentoring Hessen, a programme supporting the academic careers of women, and is involved in the AI Grid initiative, a Europe-wide network for early-career researchers in artificial intelligence.
