The program is intended for the calculation of patient dose distributions in computed tomography. It includes the possibility to calculate absorbed dose in certain organs or regions of interest (ROIs)- from existing CT image studies in a retrospective manner. Furthermore, anthropomorphic phantoms can be used for simulation and effective dose can be determined with corresponding organ weighting factors.
The absorbed dose is determined via Monte Carlo (MC) simulations using the program package EGSnrc. The selection of CT-Studies/phantoms, input parameters and dosimetric evaluation is controlled via the graphical user interface (GUI). For the simulation a folder with a whole EGSnrc environment is created by GMctdospp.
