Short Description

The students will get to know different techniques and tools to design, edit and produce visual and textual media.

Contents
  • Functional principle of a camera, exposure, aperture, depth of field, light sources, picture aspects, perspective and correction, recording and analysis of the picture.
  • Image-editing program: Fundamentals of colour systems (RGB versus CMYK), image enhancement, definition, colour depth, image file format, Import and export possibilities
  • Vector-oriented illustration program: working methods in the creation of graphic information, analysis of the design and of the information transfer, conception and design of information graphics
  • Desktop publishing program: setup and planning of documents, setting up and organising layouts, page and style templates, book functions, pagination, work with frames, typography

Specialist Skills

  • The students can explain and apply basics of digital photography.
  • They can name and utilise the design and technical possibilities of digital photography including digital cameras and matching lenses.

  • The students can utilise an image-editing program.
  • They can utilise an illustration program.
  • They can utilise a desktop publishing program.

  • The students are able to collaborate constructively and critically and develop visual media in a team.

  • The students can critically reflect and classify the basics of digital photography, functions of a camera and the use of graphic programs.

Regular attendance (at least 80 % of the time) and project (together 100%)

Evaluation
The module evaluation is performed according to §§ 9, as applicable 12 (partial performances), as applicable 18 (Theses, Colloquia) of the general provisions (Part I of the exam regulations).
