Building construction 1

Short Description

In the module building physics, the structural background of construction planning is presented with particular attention to building design variables. The focus is on teaching basic theoretical knowledge and its application in practice in the areas of thermal and noise insulation and moisture protection.

Contents

Sound insulation:
- Basic
- Room acoustics
- Airborne and impact sound insulation in solid construction buildings
- Airborne and impact sound insulation in structural and timber buildings
- External components

Thermal insulation:
- Basic
- Requirements
- Thermal insulation of building component
- Thermal bridges and weak points
- Energy-saving thermal insulation for buildings

Moisture protection: - Basic
- Requirements
- Tests

Practical experiments and tests in the laboratory on selected building materials, possibly also film presentations, excursions and projects or similar on individual building materials.

Learning Objectives

Professional skills
The students can
- apply, analyze and evaluate their knowledge of building physics correlations, taking into account structural parameters and their significance for buildings.

Methodological skills (technical & interdisciplinary)
The students can
- apply basic knowledge of building physics to solve construction tasks in building construction.

Social skills
The students can
- develop solutions to problems.

Personal skills
The students can
- acquire new knowledge of building physics independently.
- classify the significance of building physics for their own future professional activities.
