  • Short Description
    The module local area networks give an overview over the design and implementation of a LAN, the networking components and protocols and its operation and administration.
    Learning Objectives

    After successful completion of the course the students should have an advanced knowledge on the following subjects:

    • Technology of computer networks, owned and operated by their users (LANs), from a network designers and a network administrators point of view
    • Architecture, function and operational areas of the main networking components
    • Principals and functionality of the internet-working

    They are able to work on predefined tasks and present the findings to the other participants.

    • LAN-technologies including wireless LANs
    • Switching and Routing
    • Internetworking
    • Network management
    • Network security
