Learning Objectives

Participants will be given an overview of all aspects of banking and insurance which are relevant to business studies.

Contents

Banks and finance markets, targets of banking, deposit business, credit/loan business, securities business, payment
transactions, foreign operations, other banking activities. Accounting systems for banks, organisation of finance
institutes. Supervisory regulations, directing the entire bank system. Marginal calculations, calculations based on the
market rate of interest, coping with losses due to default, responding to changes in the interest rate, managing risks
connected with liquidity and profitability.
