As part of the "ECO2 - Energy Concept for a CO2-Neutral University" project, an energy-saving competition was held at THM . The aim was to raise awareness of energy conservation among the university's staff and students, thereby establishing environmentally conscious behavior in the workplace and at university in the long term.

Within one heating season (November 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018), the electricity, heating, and water consumption of the buildings was measured and compared with the heating months of the previous year (November 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017). Regular statistics on the website and in email updates showed participants the changes compared to the previous year and their ranking.
The award ceremony took place as part of the “1st THMEnergy Day” on June 5, 2018.
