Achieving big things with small measures
1. Don't freak out, turn it down. 
Here's how: Every degree you lower the room temperature saves approximately 6% on heating energy without compromising your comfort. If the room temperature in your office drops by 1°C, you save approximately 50 kg of CO2per office per year and virtually plant 5 trees.
2. Press me – No standby.
On your way to a meeting, leaving your PC in standby mode or even fully switched on?
While this might have been worthwhile with older PC models to save time, it no longer makes sense. These days, PCs start up almost as quickly as they wake from standby. This small action can save 112 kilowatt-hours per year on a single computer. This equates to approximately 60 kg of CO2per office per year, or the equivalent of planting 6 new trees.
3. Lights out, then out!
"If you're going out, turn off the lights too." Always remember to switch off the lights before leaving a room. This small step requires hardly any effort and can still save a lot of energy. Check regularly whether there is enough daylight and whether artificial light is necessary. This corresponds to a saving of approximately 65 kWh/year, which is equivalent to planting 3 trees.
4. Become a ventilation master!
Constantly leaving a window tilted open for uncontrolled ventilation cools the walls
and promotes mold growth. Briefly opening the window for short periods as needed, while the radiator valve is closed, is more efficient and increases comfort. This can save 70 kg of CO2per office per year, equivalent to planting 7 trees.
5. Stay cool while washing your hands!
To kill germs solely through water temperature, you would have to wash your hands with boiling water. The cleaning power of soap is unaffected by water temperature. You can make a difference: Washing your hands five times a day with cold water for a year saves as much CO2 per personas nine trees absorb annually.
