THMPresident Prof. Dr. Matthias Willems congratulates DAAD prize winner Lema Yaqub. THMstudent Lema Yaqub has been awarded the DAAD Prize for her outstanding academic achievements and social commitment. The student, originally from Afghanistan, received the prize from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) at the THM ball.

Exciting insights into current industry topics and the opportunity to network: The Barbara Conference at THM in Friedberg brings together experts and students.The Barbara Conference has been held at THM in Friedberg for more than 60 years. This year, conference attendees once again gained insights into many current and diverse topics and issues: the latest developments in laser-based coating of brake discs, a necessary innovation for future compliance with environmental regulations (EURO7 emissions standard), methods for thickness control of wafers – a silicon disc on which integrated circuits are manufactured – and the use of robots in the processing of cast components.

Congratulations from President Prof. Dr. Matthias Willems (right): Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jochen Frey has been elected Vice President of THM for another term. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jochen Frey has been re-elected Vice President of the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM). The engineering scientist received 26 of the 28 participating Senate members' votes. His third term begins on April 1, 2026, and lasts three years.

Over 130 guests attended the first "Steel Construction in Focus" event.Sustainability in steel construction, the Friesenbrücke – Europe's largest lift-and-swing bridge for railway traffic – and fire protection through hot-dip galvanizing: The first Further educational event on the topic of steel construction, which the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) and the University of Siegen jointly organized, had some interesting program points to offer for the professional community.

Using English as a lingua franca, the BIP “Transferable Skills” program facilitates international exchange for the acquisition of interdisciplinary skills during studies.At the end of October, international experts gathered at THM for the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Transferable Skills and Student Support: Shaping Learning Pathways” to explore the integration of interdisciplinary skills into curricula. For one week, participants met for workshops, exchange sessions, and collaborative project work – prepared digitally and then deepened on-site. The result: new impetus for supporting students and stronger European cooperation.
