On November 25, 2025, the "StartMiUp Factory Sustainable Life" will celebrate its launch at the locomotive shed in Marburg – a new innovation platform in Central Hesse that will strategically connect technology-oriented Start-ups and medium-sized enterprises. The Factory sees itself as a hub for co-creation, implementation, and interdisciplinary collaboration, with a clear focus on bringing sustainable innovation to a wider audience. In a unique collaboration, companies, policymakers, and universities are cooperating within the newly founded StartMiUp Factory GmbH – an initiative for innovative startups from Germany and abroad in the field of sustainable living.

The Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) welcomes a new expert in railway engineering: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Björn Dickenbrok joins the team in the "Railway Systems and Transport Engineering" department, which belongs to the Civil Engineering Department . Dickenbrok studied civil engineering at RWTH Aachen University, where he also earned his doctorate, and most recently worked for almost 15 years at DB Netz AG and DB InfraGO AG, the infrastructure operator of Deutsche Bahn.
Practical bridge designs for the "Island of Time"

The site of the open-air museum, currently under development, requires two river crossings – and students from the Technical University of Central Hesse THMhave provided the designs for them.

"FIT for choosing a course of study" – that's the name of the taster day at THM on the Friedberg campus for upper secondary school students. From railway engineering to mechanical engineering and business administration, lecturers and students from the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) presented various projects demonstrating how practical the respective Degree Courses are.

Doctoral center “System-integrated engineering science” launches

In the future, engineering graduates will also be able to pursue doctoral studies in their field at Hessian universities of applied sciences (HAW). A corresponding cooperation agreement between RheinMain University of Applied Sciences (HSRM), Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, Fulda University of Applied Sciences, and the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen for the joint doctoral center "Systems-Integrated Engineering" was signed by the university administrations. The doctoral center's office is located at HSRM.
