In Friedberg, prospective students get to know the practical aspects of THM through small projects, such as programmeming a car.

What are the contents of an architecture degree, where can graduates of a mechanical engineering degree find jobs, and what do students of medical physics learn? High school students and other prospective students received answers to these and other questions at the University Information Days (HIT). On Wednesday and Thursday, January 28 and 29, they had the opportunity to learn about the study programmes offered by the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) in Giessen , Friedberg, and Wetzlar.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become an indispensable part of everyday life. But how trustworthy is it, and how can it be used responsibly? Experts from science, politics, business, and the public sector explored this question. They convened at the invitation of the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) in the ZukunftsRaum Friedberg for a panel discussion entitled "Trustworthy AI – Perspectives from Science, Business, the Public Sphere, and Politics.".

The project team is developing a rotating fermenter, a so-called fermentation drum.

Bioenergy from biogas makes an important contribution to the energy transition: it is renewable, storable, and flexibly applicable – regardless of weather or time of day. The THMresearch project RegBioFerm, which the project team presented as part of the final lecture series of the 2025/26 winter semester, is investigating how the potential of biogas can be optimally utilized.

Laura Jehle studied Technical Writing and Multimedia Documentation at THM and translates complex software products into understandable formats for abas Software GmbH: video tutorials, quizzes and interactive presentations.

When in-person training courses were cancelled during the pandemic, e-learning experienced a boom. Digital learning modules – from short explainer videos to interactive online courses – convey knowledge regardless of location or time. Even after the pandemic, they have remained: efficient, scalable, and flexible. Who develops these learning environments, and what tools are needed for this interface work?

Education Minister Armin Schwarz explains at the Department of Health at THMwhat subjects in the STEM cluster mean for Hesse as a business location.

Hesse's Minister of Education, Armin Schwarz, visited the Department Health at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) in Giessen to learn about its collaboration with schools and its STEM programmes for students. In addition to a professional exchange, the minister also encountered a balancing act between skyscrapers and a breathing lung.

Dedicated inventors: Children and young people at the regional competition of the FIRST LEGO League 2025 in Marburg.

For months, more than 30 teams at schools in Central Hesse have been preparing, building and programmeming small robots, working on an exciting research journey into the past under the motto "unearthed." Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) is hosting this year's regional competition of the "FIRST LEGO League." The teams will compete against each other on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the JLU Chemistry Building (Heinrich-Buff-Ring 17). The competition is open to the public and offers a wide range of activities for the whole family.

26 female students participated in the ProTHMtalent development programme, which gave them an insight into a career in science.

What does the career path to becoming a professor at a university of applied sciences (HAW) look like? What qualifications must be obtained, and what is the daily work of a professor like? Twenty-six female students explored these questions as part of the ProTHMtalent development programme at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM).

Prof. Dr. Tobias Oppermann teaches at the LSE Department .

He completed his studies at THM , earned his doctorate at Justus Liebig University, and is now returning to THM . Prof. Dr. Tobias Oppermann began teaching at the Department of Life Science Engineering at the start of the winter semester.

The establishment of the joint doctoral center "Systems-Integrated Engineering" on October 1, 2025, marks another significant milestone for the academic qualification programmes at the Hessian Universities of Applied Sciences (HAW Hessen). At the inaugural meeting with Timon Gremmels, Hessian Minister for Science and Research, Arts and Culture, in Wiesbaden, Prof. Dr. Joaquín Díaz from THM was elected spokesperson.
