The transfer of knowledge between research and industry was also the focus of THM Connect in Friedberg last year. What knowledge lies dormant within the university and how can it be most effectively put into practice? The Transfer Department at THM asked itself this question and has now been granted €533,000 in funding from the Hessian Ministry of Art and Culture, Science and Research (HMWK) using EU funds.

Especially in light of current societal challenges, good ideas and solutions to existing problems are increasingly in demand. The goal: to use knowledge and existing technologies so effectively that as little as possible is lost in the process from development to application.

“As a teaching and research institution with many bright minds, THM has enormous potential to play a key role in the current transformation processes of the economy and society, both in small and large ways. It is important to us to implement this in the best possible way and with maximum impact, which is why I am delighted about the support of the HMWK for this project,” says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jochen Frey, Vice President for Research, Transfer and Young Researchers at THM.

“Many transfer processes never even get off the ground because there is a lack of awareness of the diverse possibilities for utilizing research results, newly developed technologies, and know-how. We want to remedy this: With various approaches, we aim to make existing knowledge and technologies even more accessible and usable. At the same time, we want to raise awareness of why it is important to share knowledge with society and the economy and to consider knowledge transfer,” adds Dr. Iris Stallkamp, Head of the Transfer Department.

The project “From Know-how to Impact: Making transfer processes more effective using the example of the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (Transfer IMPACT)” will start on October 1, 2025 and will run for three years.
