"Networking, snacks, and good vibes" – under this motto, the International Office of the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) invited all international students to the summer party "InternationalTalents@THM" for the first time. Together with student initiatives, cooperation partners, and numerous students, they celebrated the successful end of the summer semester at "Pulse.Point" on the Giessen campus.
Guests enjoyed music, fresh popcorn, cold drinks, and crêpes baked by the Life Science Engineering (LSE) student council, mingling and chatting with one another. Seven information booths showcased the work of various organizations, including the International Buddy Programme, the LSE student council, the Cameroonian Community of Friedberg, Youth Challenge International, AfroGeek, the Giessen Volunteer Center, and the Lions Club. Guests learned about the programs offered, sampled Cameroonian specialties, and tested their skills at virtual table tennis using VR headsets.
At the International Buddy Programme table, creative visitors designed their own pin-back buttons. The cheerful atmosphere led to THM staff spontaneously joining in the festivities.
In closing, Shila Monasterios, head of the Incoming Team at the International Office, thanked everyone present in a short speech. After a full semester with many events, it was all the more important to celebrate together and get to know one another. She presented the coaching program "InternationalTalents@THM" and particularly emphasized the importance of networking.
"InternationalTalents@THM" supports international students with an individual coaching program to advance their studies and improve their career prospects in Germany. As part of the program, events and workshops on academic success and career entry take place every semester. "After the great success of our summer festival, we are planning similar events for the next semester, focusing on exchange and networking," Monasterios summarized the festival's success.
