Thomas Farrenkopf, a Business Information Systems specialist from Friedberg, has completed his doctorate at Edinburgh Napier University. His dissertation at the university's School of Computing focused on the simulation of business processes. He utilizes elements of artificial intelligence to describe consumer behavior. This allows researchers, for example, to investigate how a product succeeds in the market.

Dr. Farrenkopf was supervised by Prof. Dr. Michael Guckert from the Department of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Data Processing at THM and Dr. Neil Urquhart, a lecturer in Edinburgh. The 32-year-old had previously completed his Master's degree in Business Information Systems at THM . Farrenkopf currently works as Head of Knowledge-Based Methods at the automotive supplier Kamax in Homberg/Ohm and as a lecturer at THM.

In the field of Business Information Systems THM has been collaborating with the Scottish university since 2010, thanks to Guckert's initiative. The two universities cooperate in research and student exchange.
