The meetings are intended to offer female students and staff (including those on parental leave) with children the opportunity to exchange ideas about childcare, studies, and careers, to get to know each other, and to make new contacts. Pregnant students and staff are also warmly invited. While the adults chat, the children can play and get their first taste of university life.

Children up to the age of approximately 5 are expressly welcome and will find child-friendly facilities in the parent-child room - with toys, changing facilities, beds and much more.

Each meeting has a different focus. The topics are suggestions; exchange and discussion of other subjects are welcome.

Topic on June 29, 2026: Babywearing, baby carriers:

What baby carriers and carrying methods are available, and for which age groups are they suitable?
What do I need to consider when carrying my baby, and which carriers are actually suitable for both parent and child?
We will discuss different carriers and sling tying techniques for each age group.
Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for open discussion about babies and toddlers.

In addition to a coordinator from the Family-Friendly University, certified breastfeeding consultant (AFS VR Hessen) Ms. Hofmann will be present to offer advice and answer your questions about breastfeeding. Jannette Hofmann works as a laboratory engineer at THM and has two children.
