For publishing scientific results or writing academic papers and theses that require a professional layout, the typesetting program LaTeX can be used. LaTeX supports the layout process of documents – especially with extensive text and image material.

LaTeX is free and compatible with most common operating systems.

The first part how to work with the system and what possibilities it offers. It also briefly covers the most important rules of typography. Afterwards, participants will be able to start working with LaTeX.

These topics are the focus of the first part:

  • Getting started with LaTeX
  • Mathematical formulas
  • Integration of tables, figures and quotations
  • How cross-references to figures, tables and chapters work
  • Convert existing texts to LaTeX
  • Interaction with other scientific programs, such as Mathematica and Citavi

The second part a LaTeX template for writing a thesis at THM .

The presentation will be supplemented by:

  • Exercises
  • Your individual questions about LaTeX
  • Support with the installation of LaTeX

Please register. You will receive a confirmation after the registration deadline.

Duration: 270 minutes

We recommendinstalling LaTeX before participating in the course. All materials (installation files, templates, presentation slides) can be found here.
