The tasks of the data protection officer are defined in the Hessian Data Protection and Freedom of Information Act (HDSIG) and in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). According to these laws, the data protection officer has the following responsibilities:
- to work towards compliance with data protection regulations in measures that interfere with the individual's right to decide on the disclosure and use of their data (right to informational self-determination),
- to familiarize the persons at the university who are involved in the processing of personal data with the applicable data protection regulations,
- to support the university management, departments and Departments in the introduction and application of technical and organizational measures for data protection, in the creation of a register of processing activities and in contacting the Hessian Data Protection Commissioner,
- to maintain the records of processing activities to be created and to make them available for inspection,
- to examine new or modified data processing procedures.
The university's data protection officer is independent in the performance of their duties. They are available to all employees and students of TH Mittelhessen as a contact person for all data protection matters. All inquiries are treated confidentially.
