Submission of the Bachelor's or Master's thesis in written form
- I want to submit my bachelor's or master's thesis. How many printed copies do I need to submit?
The bachelor's or master's thesis must be submitted in duplicate to the chair of the examination board or to the supervisor by the deadline. - Do I only have to submit my bachelor's or master's thesis in written form?
In some Degree Courses , it is required to submit the bachelor's or master's thesis in an additional format besides the written one, e.g., digitally. If this is required, it will be specified in the subject-specific regulations (Part 2 of the examination regulations) for your degree program.
Accreditation
All new Bachelor's and Master's degree courses must be accredited before they can begin. The accreditation process verifies compliance with defined minimum standards and framework guidelines. The central body of this system is an independent Accreditation Council , which coordinates the evaluation of Degree Courses by accreditation agencies .
The task of these accreditation agencies is to ensure minimum professional and content-related standards as well as to verify the professional relevance of the degrees of the study programme to be accredited.
In the event of successful accreditation, a study programme bears the seal of the Accreditation Council.
Degree Courses are accredited for a specific period, which is based on the standard duration of study. The Degree Courses must be reaccredited well before this period expires.
Multiple choice procedure
- What is the multiple-choice format?
In special cases, exams can be conducted entirely or partially in the form of a multiple-choice format (e.g., single-choice, multiple-choice). Students must submit the correct answers in writing, under supervision, from a list of given options. - Is it permissible for every module at THM to be assessed using a multiple-choice format?
No, only if this is stipulated in the respective module description. - Is there a percentage limit on the number of multiple-choice questions offered in a degree program?
No. - What is the difference between multiple choice and single choice?
Single choice questions are questions where the student must select exactly one correct answer from the given options. Multiple choice questions allow for the selection of several correct answers. - Can multiple-choice exam questions be marked with less than zero points?
No. Awarding negative points for incorrectly selected answer options is permitted within a multiple-choice question. However, it must be ensured that the student does not receive less than zero points overall for the question.
Example 1
In a question with 5 answer choices, options a and c are correct, while options b, d, and e are incorrect. A student receives one point for selecting a correct answer and one point for deducting a point for selecting an incorrect answer.
Student 1 selected options a, b, and c and therefore receives 2 points and one point deducted, for a total of 1 point for this question. Student 2 selected all answer choices and receives 2 points and 3 points deducted. This would result in a total of one point deducted, but since exam questions cannot be marked lower than zero, they receive zero points for this question.
{tab Example 2}
In a question with 5 answer choices, options a, b, and c are correct, while options d and e are incorrect. A student receives 2 points for selecting a correct answer and 3 points for selecting an incorrect answer.
Student 1 selected option a and receives 2 points. Student 2 selected all options and therefore receives 6 points and 6 points, for a total of exactly zero points.
- What should be done if multiple answers are unintentionally correct in a single-choice question?
In this case, it must be clarified with the examination board whether the question should be completely removed from the assessment, or whether the erroneously marked incorrect answers can be subsequently marked as correct. In both cases, it must also be clarified whether this results in any changes to the passing grade. - What should be done if, after a multiple-choice exam has been issued, it is discovered that the question was worded ambiguously?
If an incorrect formulation is found after an exam has been administered, the exam can either be re-marked or the question can be removed from the grading altogether. Since this always depends on the individual case and cannot be generally regulated, the further procedure must always be coordinated with the examination board to ensure legal certainty. In this context, it must also be clarified whether the changed results lead to a new passing grade. - How will my multiple-choice exam be graded?
The method of grading for multiple-choice exams must be communicated to the student in writing on the exam paper at the beginning of the exam.
credit
- Can credits earned at another foreign university or state-recognized vocational academy be transferred to my degree program?
Yes, provided the acquired knowledge and skills are compatible with the content of the degree program. - Who decides on credit transfer?
The examination board makes a case-by-case decision and checks whether there are any significant differences between the module to be credited and the corresponding module at THM with regard to knowledge and skills. The examination board may delegate the credit transfer of foreign modules to the Departmental Departmental International Coordinator Departmental International Coordinator . - Can knowledge and skills acquired outside of a university or state-recognized vocational academy be credited?
Yes, if they are equivalent. However, they may not constitute more than 50% of the module credits required in the degree program. - Can professional experience be considered a skill acquired outside of higher education?
This is possible if the examination board concludes this on a case-by-case basis. - Under what name will a module be credited to me?
Credit is given under the name of the module in the degree program at THM . - Will the credit points from the THM module or those from the other module be transferred?
If credit is transferred, the credit points will be credited to the extent that the module has the same value at THM . - Up to what point in my studies can I have modules credited towards my degree?
Credit transfer is generally possible at any time during the course of study. - When is the crediting of a module excluded?
As soon as the student takes an exam THM - Should the credited modules or examination results be indicated on the certificate?
Yes!
See also consent procedure .
Number of exam attempts for Bachelor's and Master's students
For Bachelor's and Master's theses with colloquium, students have a total of 2 examination attempts available, i.e. the first attempt and then a repeat opportunity.
For each additional exam , you have a total of three attempts: the first attempt and two further retakes. You also have two "joker" attempts available once during your entire Bachelor's degree program. Please refer to the information sheet on the use of jokers for details .
Retention periods
Lists or registers of students enrolled at the university must be kept permanently
to be kept for 60 years:
- Lists or registers of passing or failing university examinations
- Documents concerning study periods
- Documents relating to admission to a university examination, insofar as these have not been returned
- the drafts or copies of the respective examination certificates
to be kept for 5 years:
- Certificates or transcripts of records of the students
- Examination documents (e.g., exams, theses) from university examinations (unless they are returned)
- the expert opinions on the respective examination paper
- In the event of failure or termination of examinations, the drafts or copies of the issued decisions and the overviews of the individual examination results
The retention periods for examination documents begin at the end of the calendar year in which the candidate was notified of the final result of the respective examination. Examination documents may not be discarded until an examination decision has become legally binding.
Job title: Engineer
You completed your studies in a Bachelor's degree program at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen ( THM ). For questions relating to the professional practice and title of engineers, the Hesse Chamber of Engineers (not the university!) is responsible.
In Hesse, the right to use the professional title "Engineer" derives directly from the Hessian Engineering Act (HIngG). Graduates who meet the criteria of Section 1 Paragraph 1 of the HIngG are entitled to call themselves "Engineer." They bear this responsibility themselves and do not require any explicit recognition.
Section 1, paragraph 1 of the Higher Education Act (HIngG) stipulates that the professional title "Engineer" may only be used by those who have completed a degree in an undergraduate engineering programme. This applies to graduates whose Bachelor's degree programme (comprising at least six semesters of theoretical study) includes at least half engineering-specific subjects.
Degree Courses that are not engineering-related in this sense, do not lead to a first professional qualification and comprise fewer than 180 ECTS credits, do not the criteria set out in Section 1 Paragraph 1 of the Higher Education Act (HIngG).
If you personally deem it useful or necessary, you can apply to the Hesse Chamber of Engineers to have it determined whether you meet the requirements for using the professional title "Engineer" (§ 2 HIngG). This determination is made on a case-by-case basis and is subject to a fee (250 euros). Information and application forms can be found at the Hesse Chamber of Engineers (Recognition of National Diplomas under the Engineering Act).
Please note that the Hessian Chamber of Engineers is only responsible for clarifying this matter if you have your primary residence or work Hesse . If you live or work in another federal state, please contact the relevant authority (Chamber of Engineers or other agency) in your federal state. In Hesse, the regulation in Section 2 of the Hessian Engineering Act (HIngG) primarily targets EU citizens who must provide proof of their relevant academic qualifications to use the professional title.
Excerpt from the currently valid Hessian Engineering Act (HIngG)
- Section 1 Paragraph 1 HIngG - Use of the
professional title
of engineer - Section 2 of the Higher Education Act – Jurisdiction
Section 1 Paragraph 1 HIngG - Use of the professional title of engineer
(1) The professional title "Engineer" alone or in a compound word or in the name, business name or company name of a professional association may be used and may be used by anyone who
1. A course of study in an engineering discipline at a state or state-recognized university or a state-recognized vocational academy, leading to a first professional qualification, provided that this comprises at least six theoretical semesters of study and at least 180 credit points according to the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) or, in the case of a dual study programme, three years of study and 180 credit points
2. training at a public or state-recognized engineering school or
3. has completed training in a management course at a state-recognized mining school with a diploma, examination certificate, or other qualification or certificate of training that is recognized under European Union or German federal law, provided that the study or training regulations or the final certificate indicate that it is an engineering-related course of study or training.
The courses of study and training according to sentence 1 must comprise at least half engineering-specific subjects. This does not affect the use of compound words based on special courses of study and training with engineering and other professional components that lead to a special engineering-related qualification and correspond to an independent professional profile. The professional title "Engineer" may also be used by anyone who has been granted the right by the competent authority to use the title alone or with an addition.
Section 2 of the Higher Education Act – Jurisdiction
The Hessian Chamber of Engineers determines, upon application by a person or professional association, whether the requirements for using the professional title specified in Section 1 Paragraph 1 are met, if the person or professional association
1. is professionally established, has its main residence, or habitual abode within the business area of the Hesse Chamber of Engineers, or
2. the last place of professional activity, establishment, main residence or last habitual residence in Germany was within the jurisdiction of the Hesse Chamber of Engineers or
3. intends to take up professional activity, establish a branch, or establish a main residence or habitual abode within the business area of the Hessian Chamber of Engineers.
It is to prohibit the use of the professional title pursuant to Section 1 Paragraph 1 if the conditions of Section 1 are not met.
Passing threshold for partial services
If the examination performance of a module consists of several sub-assessments, then at least 50% be achieved in each sub-assessment to pass.
Bonus points
- What are bonus points?
They are improvements to module grades achieved through voluntary additional work such as mock exams, extra exercises, or presentations. They are not part of the module examination. - When can I complete the voluntary work (during the semester break, during lectures)?
Department will provide more detailed information in a timely and appropriate manner. - Can I get bonus points in all modules at THM ?
No. Bonus points can only be earned for the module that specifically offers them in its module description. - Can I improve my module grade with bonus points?
Yes. Voluntary work can improve the calculated module grade by up to 10 percentage points. However, the total number of points achievable without bonus points (100%) must not be exceeded. - Can I carry over bonus points to subsequent semesters?
No. Bonus points expire at the end of the semester in which they were awarded. For modules that extend over two semesters, the bonus points expire in the semester in which the final examination is completed. - Who will inform me about the possible acquisition of bonus points?
Department in a timely and appropriate manner via Moodle at the start of the event. - Can I use bonus points for other Degree Courses ?
No. Bonus points may only be used for the module grade of the corresponding module in whose module description they are provided.
German Qualifications Framework
In a press release dated January 31, 2012, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research announced the agreement on the introduction of the "German Qualifications Framework." The release states that the vocational qualifications of Master Craftsman, Certified Specialist, and Technician are equivalent to a Bachelor's degree (qualification level 6). However, this equivalence does not mean that the qualifications are also "identical."
You can find more detailed information at the following link: https://www.dqr.de/dqr/de/home/home_node.html.
The classification of master craftsmen, certified specialists, and technicians at the same level (6) as bachelor's degrees does not constitute eligibility for admission to a master's program. Admission to and enrollment in bachelor's and master's degree courses remains subject to the legal regulations of the Hessian Higher Education Act, the Hessian Admissions Ordinance, and the Hessian Enrollment Ordinance.
Access to examination documents
Students at THM have one year from the date their exam results are announced to inspect all their exam documents, including transcripts and any expert opinions. Please contact the examiner or your Department office.
Final failure in Bachelor's and Master's degree courses n
Bachelor degree courses
The number of retake opportunities for examinations in Bachelor degree courses regulated in the General Provisions for Bachelor's Examination Regulations
Accordingly, an examination is definitively failed if, in accordance with Section 13 of the General Provisions, the last possible repeat examination of the module, including any possible jokers and after taking into account any failed attempts made outside the course of study, is not passed.
Before a final decision on failing the examination is made, a written hearing will be held. Within one month of receiving the hearing notice, the student may declare whether they wish to take an additional retake (joker) according to Section 13 Paragraph 3. If no declaration is received within this period, the final decision on failing the examination will be made, and the official notification of failure will be issued.
If the bachelor's thesis is definitively failed, the entire bachelor's examination is definitively failed. A written notification will be issued, including information on legal remedies. Furthermore, a certificate will be issued detailing the completed modules and their grades, as well as the modules still outstanding, confirming that the bachelor's examination has been failed.
Enrollment in the
Master degree courses
The number of retake opportunities for examinations in Master degree courses regulated in the General Provisions for Master's Examination Regulations
A course is definitively failed if, in accordance with § 13, the last possible retake examination of the module, including the crediting of any failed attempts made outside the course of study, is not passed
Failed exams and parts thereof can be retaken twice. The master's thesis with colloquium can be retaken once.
Failed attempts
Generally, failed attempts within the same degree programme are counted. Exceptions and explanations can be found in the four variations below.
Option 1
A student in the Bachelor's program in Electrical and Information Engineering (ELI) at the Giessen campus is taking the Mathematics III module in the Bachelor's program in Electrical and Information Engineering at the Friedberg campus . According to § 3 para. 2 of the subject-specific regulations (Part II of the examination regulations BA ELI), the failed attempts will be counted towards his final grade.
Option 2
A student is simultaneously enrolled in two Bachelor degree courses : Electrical and Information Engineering (ELI) and Electrical Power Engineering for Renewable Energy Systems (EERE). He is taking the Mathematics III module in the ELI program. While the student is enrolled in both programs, failed attempts for the shared module are only allowed once counted in both Degree Courses
Variant 3
A student in the Bachelor's programme ELI fails the Mathematics III exam three times. He deregisters from the Bachelor's programme ELI and enrolls in the Bachelor's programme EERE. In this case, the three failed attempts at the Mathematics III exam are not transferred; that is, he is entitled to three more retakes according to § 13 of the General Regulations (Part I of the Examination Regulations), since it is a different degree programme.
Social and societal engagement
What does this mean?
The THM THM presidium considers it important to recognize and promote the civic and social engagement of its students. This engagement can include valuable student participation in university committees (e.g., student council, senate, senate commissions), as well as taking on responsibility in dealing with social groups such as the elderly, people with disabilities, and migrants, participation in the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) or the volunteer fire department, voluntary service, and other honorary positions.
How does THM the social and civic engagement of its students? Starting in the winter semester of 2023/2024, THM
students who engage in social and civic activities and take responsibility for others can modules worth three to six credit points in the Elective area of Bachelor degree courses .
Does my Department Elective module on civic and social engagement?
No.
social and community engagement be credited towards my Bachelor's degree in the Elective
If the examination regulations for the respective Degree Courses include open quotas in the Elective
If the examination regulations stipulate restricted Elective areas, then no.
Where can I find the form to prove my civic and social engagement?
The form "CREDIT FOR CIVIC AND SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT" is available for download on the website of the Central Examination Office.
University-wide standardized approval procedure - who needs to approve?
- I don't want to take a specific module in my own degree program, but rather use the offerings of another program.
Is that possible, and what do I need to do? Yes, that's possible. There's a university-wide procedure for these cases, called the approval procedure .
The procedure is described
information sheet on the approval procedure If I want to use this option, I use the university-wide form: "Approval Procedure" . - Who needs to approve my application if I want to take a module from another degree program?
First, the chair of the examination board for my degree program must approve. This ensures that the module I want to take will later be credited towards my own degree.
Second, the approval of the examiners offering the module I've chosen is also required. This ensures that there's a place available for me in the desired module. - What happens if my request is denied?
If my request is denied, I will be notified of the rejection on the university's standardized form, along with the reasons given. Below the rejection notice and the explanation, you will find information about your right to appeal. This informs me of the possibility of filing an objection to the decision if I disagree with it. - How does my Department the exam result?
The examiner sends the result of the respective exam to the Department office of the Department in which the exam was taken, as well as to the Department office of your own degree program. - I took a module as part of the approval process in another degree program, but I failed. Does that count as a failed attempt?
Yes, this also counts as an exam attempt. The failed attempt will be recorded in your academic record for your own degree program.
Failure attempt policy when switching from BA Mechanical Engineering (GI/FB) to BA Mechanical Engineering (FB/GI)
- If I have already failed three modules Giessen You have definitively failed a module in the same program with the same number of credit points , so enrollment in the Bachelor's program in Mechanical Engineering (FB) is not possible. However, you can use a "joker" (a credit for failing a module) in Giessen to compensate for this and then transfer to the Bachelor's program in Mechanical Engineering (FB).
- If I have already failed two exams in the BA Mechanical Engineering (GI) program, am I allowed to deregister from the BA Mechanical Engineering (GI) program and enroll in the BA Mechanical Engineering (FB) program?
Yes.
- If I have already failed 3 exams in 3 modules each in the BA Mechanical Engineering (GI), am I allowed to enroll in the BA Mechanical Engineering (FB) program?
definitively failed a degree program with the same name and the same number of credit points
Joker at THM
- What are jokers?
Jokers are additional retake attempts for failed exam components or sections. They can be used two - How many jokers do I have?
During my entire bachelor's degree program, I can use up to two jokers once - What can the jokers be used for?
They can be used freely for retaking all exams and exam components. The only exceptions are the bachelor's thesis with colloquium and practical or project phases. - Are the jokers granted again if the course of study is changed?
No. The jokers are only granted once during the entire Bachelor's degree program. - Can I use both jokers to repeat the same performance?
Yes, that's possible. - I've used up all my regular retake attempts on an exam, but I still failed.
What happens then? Are the jokers used automatically?
No. In this case, the Department where I study will initiate a written hearing. During this hearing, I'll have the opportunity to state whether I want to use a joker. If I don't submit such a statement, I will have failed the exam definitively. I have one month from the date I receive the hearing notice to submit this statement. - What happens if I use a joker?
If you use a joker, you will be granted an additional attempt at the exam. Since this is again the final retake of an exam as defined in Section 13 Paragraph 4 of the General Regulations, a written exam can, under certain conditions, also be administered as an oral exam – provided the examination regulations allow for this.
Special conditions in the case of illness
The university-wide form for withdrawal due to illness must to the Department within three working days at the latest . The sick note cannot be submitted the THM
Please note: At THM , the "university-wide procedure for withdrawals due to illness" applies, meaning that medical certificates (yellow slips) are no longer accepted. The university-wide form must be used.
Please read the information sheet on resignation due to illness for all important information.
Maternity Protection Act
- Who can advise me at THM if I am pregnant or breastfeeding during my studies?
The THM available to provide advice (https://www.thm.de/frauen-gleichstellung/familiengerechte-hochschule/studierende/mutterschutz.html). - Do I need to inform my Department about my pregnancy?
Generally, yes. The pregnancy or breastfeeding must be reported to the university as early as possible, first to the Family-Friendly University Coordinator, and then to the program director. A maternity record or a doctor's certificate is sufficient proof. Further information can be found on the Family-Friendly University Coordinator's website at https://www.thm.de/frauen-gleichstellung/familiengerechte-hochschule/studierende/mutterschutz.html. - How long can I study without restrictions during my pregnancy?
Until 6 weeks before birth – provided there is no unreasonable risk . - What constitutes an unacceptable risk?
This could include, for example, work in a laboratory. In such cases, the program director must conduct a specific risk assessment together with the students. Following the assessment, it will be determined whether protective measures are necessary. The risk assessment form is available from the Equal Opportunities Office. - When can I resume my studies after giving birth?
After giving birth, participation in study activities (e.g., lectures, exams, etc.) is possible with a written declaration. The Equal Opportunities Office is available to assist students with this. - Am I allowed to take (important) exams if my doctor has certified me as unfit for work?
NO! - What happens if I take an exam despite being on maternity leave?
In these cases, participation is only possible if the student has previously signed a corresponding declaration of consent to take the exam despite maternity leave. This declaration is available from the Equal Opportunities Office.
THM regulations regarding withdrawal due to illness apply accordingly. - What happens if, despite a work ban, I continue to work in a laboratory, for example, and am exposed to unacceptable risks?
This is not possible. Not even with a declaration of consent.
Exam registration and withdrawal
Exam registration
- To be able to take part in an exam, you must register by the deadline.
- Only those who have registered within the specified registration period before the examination date will be admitted.
- The Department provides timely and appropriate information about registration periods and procedures at the beginning of the lecture period via Department website, Moodle (learning platform) but also via the "notice board".
- Students are required to comply with registration periods and procedures.
- The registration periods at the Giessen and Friedberg campuses may differ.
- Admission to the respective examination is granted only to those who have fulfilled all the necessary requirements (e.g., prior achievements).
resignation
- Up to one week before the exam date, it is possible to withdraw from the exam in writing (also online) without giving a reason
- After that, a withdrawal can only be declared with an important reason (e.g., illness, care of close relatives, maternity leave) and without delay (3 working days after the examination date)
- The examination committee decides whether the stated impediment is recognized as a valid reason for withdrawing from the examination.

Returning to a degree programme I have already studied / Carrying over failed attempts when changing degree programmes
- I started my studies in program A. Since I had two failed attempts on one exam, I would like to switch to program B.
What happens to the failed attempts when changing programs? Failed attempts from my previous program A are not carried over to the new program B. I will therefore start with a clean slate there. The previous failed attempts will not appear on my record. - I failed my final exams in degree program A. Now I want to study in the other, but similar, degree program B.
The module I failed is also offered there. Can I still switch? Yes, that's possible, because failed exams aren't carried over when switching to a different degree program. So I can take all the exam attempts again in the module I failed. - I started my studies in degree program A. Since I had two failed attempts on one exam, I switched to degree program B and am now enrolled there to take the exam I haven't passed yet. Can I later switch back to degree program A to finish my studies there?
It depends:
If I switch back I've already studied in, i.e., degree program A, then my total number of exam attempts . This includes the exam attempts I took during my studies in degree program A, as well as those I took during my studies in degree program B. My failed attempts from both Degree Courses will be added together . In this case, I can only return to degree program A if it turns out that I haven't exceeded the allowed number of exam attempts in any module. I could still use any unused "jokers" (a total of two).
Example 1
I started my studies in programme A; there I failed the "Calm Handwriting" module twice; then I switched to programme B; there I passed the "Calm Handwriting" module on the first attempt; now I would like to return to programme A; this is possible because I passed the "Calm Handwriting" module on the third attempt overall.
Example 2
I started my studies in program A; I failed the "Calling" module twice; then I switched to program B; I passed the "Calling" module on my second attempt there; now I want to return to program A; I passed the "Calling" module on my fourth attempt overall; this means I have exceeded ; therefore, it is only possible to switch back to program A and have the passed "Calling" module credited to my degree if I use a joker; if I don't do this, I can no longer return to program A.
Attempts to deceive and plagiarism in master's or bachelor's theses
To ensure scientific quality at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen deception and the use of unauthorized aids are countered through prevention and sanctions.
Prevention
Students in Bachelor's and Master's degree courses must submit their final thesis
- assure that she has written her thesis independently,
- no sources or aids other than those specified were used
- and the thesis has not yet been submitted in the same or a similar form.
Sanction
Attempt:
If students at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen influence or attempt to influence the result of their examination performance or preliminary work through deception or the use of unauthorized aids,
- These were rated as "not sufficient".
- In “serious cases”, the examination board, in agreement with the examination office, can exclude students from Bachelor's and Master's degree courses from completing further coursework, up to the point that the student has “finally” failed and is exmatriculated.
In retrospect:
If cheating or the use of unauthorized aids is discovered subsequently, the grade for former students of Bachelor's and Master's degree courses can be adjusted accordingly, and the examination can be retroactively declared failed. The incorrect certificate and diploma will be confiscated.
Discussion during deception
- I received an invitation to a meeting because I'm accused of attempting to cheat. What's this about?
If I'm accused of cheating on an exam, the chair of the examination board has the option of inviting me to a meeting. The accusation of cheating will be discussed at this meeting. The meeting will be documented by the Department . - Who will conduct the interview with me?
The interview with me will be conducted by at least two authorized examiners. The specific individuals involved will be stated in the interview invitation.
Objection procedure
An appeal against an examination decision can be lodged with the President (Central Examination Office of THM).
As a general rule: Passed exams and prior learning cannot be repeated.
- The student should explain precisely why he considers the examination decision (e.g. the assessment of an examination performance) to be unjustified.
- The examiner or the examination committee must issue a statement on this matter.
- The examination office decides on the appeal.
- In the case of a final examination and thus a final failure, the respective notification usually contains information on legal remedies , i.e., the student has one month to file a written objection.
- If there is no information on legal remedies, the objection period is one year.
- If the objection is rejected, the student has one month from the date of delivery to file a lawsuit with the Administrative Court Giessen .
Repeatability of examinations
The general regulations for Bachelor's or Master's degree courses at THM precisely regulate the possibilities for repeating an exam.
As a general rule: Passed exams and prior learning cannot be repeated.
The following applies to Bachelor degree courses :
Failed exams and partial exams can twice . The bachelor's thesis with colloquium can be retaken once
In addition to the regular two , up to two "joker" attempts can be used once during . These can be used freely for retaking any examination components or parts thereof (including retaking the same component). The Bachelor's thesis, the colloquium, and practical or project phases are excluded. Further information on the joker policy can be found here .
The subject-specific regulations may stipulate that, at the request of the candidate, the final retake of a written examination may be taken as an oral examination.
The following applies to Master degree courses :
Failed exams and parts thereof can twice . The master's thesis with colloquium can be retaken once
The subject-specific regulations may stipulate that, at the request of the candidate, the final retake of a written examination may be taken as an oral examination.
Duplicate copies
Upon request, the Central Examination Office will issue duplicate copies of lost graduation documents, such as certificates, diplomas, etc.
Duplicate copies are subject to a fee according to the currently valid fee schedule. The fee is currently €50 per document. You will receive a corresponding invoice. After receipt of the fee in THM 's account, the duplicate will be prepared and sent to you by mail.
You can download the form to request a duplicate copy in the yellow box on the right.
