Reduction of working hours
It is generally possible to reduce your regular weekly working hours, especially if you have a child under 18 or a dependent relative to care for. Working fewer hours is also possible during parental leave. Furthermore, there are other personal reasons that may justify a reduction in working hours.
The application for reduced working hours must be coordinated with the respective supervisor in advance. The application must be submitted personally by the employee.
Increased working hours
When working hours are increased, the existing employment contract is amended temporarily or permanently, e.g., in the event of an employee's absence or similar circumstances. The amendment applies exclusively to working hours; other provisions of the employment contract remain unaffected.
A request from the department head or dean is submitted to the HR department; an application form is available in the intrawiki . Ideally, the employee confirms their consent to the increase in working hours at the same time as submitting the request. The final decision regarding the necessity of the increased working hours rests with the presidium .
Classification
All persons employed under the collective agreement for Hesse (TV-H) are classified in accordance with Sections 12 and 13 of the TV-H in conjunction with the applicable pay scale for the TV-H, Annex A.
Each employee has a job description (WPD) outlining the tasks to be performed. These tasks are formally assigned to the respective employee by the department head.
If the duties to be performed change during the course of employment, or if a change in duties is planned, the job description must also be adjusted. It should be noted that not every change in duties justifies a change in job classification. Ultimately, the department head decides on the tasks to be assigned.
In addition to being classified into a pay grade, all employees are assigned to a step according to Section 16 of the TV-H (Collective Agreement for Public Service Employees in Hesse). These steps are flexible; general regulations regarding them can also be found in Section 17 of the TV-H.
Termination
Employees can terminate their employment relationship at any time in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement for Hesse, taking into account the notice periods.
For employees with fixed-term contracts , the notice periods according to § 30 TV-H apply; for employees with permanent contracts, § 34 TV-H applies.
Termination of employment
According to Section 33 Paragraph 1b of the TV-H (Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Public Sector in Hesse), you have the option of submitting an application for termination of your employment. It is essential that you clarify the possible termination date with your supervisor before submitting this application
Employment references
Employment references at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen are prepared by the human resources department and signed by the head of the department.
Anyone leaving employment is entitled to a qualified letter of reference. It should be noted that this is not issued automatically; a brief notification to the responsible employee is necessary.
If a qualified employment reference is not requested, only a basic employment reference issued. This contains personal information, length of employment, and details of the duties performed, but no evaluation of work performance or conduct.
Provided a valid reason is given (e.g., change of supervisor, commencement of maternity/parental leave, change in your field of activity, or similar), you are entitled to the issuance of a (qualified) interim certificate . Unlike a standard employment certificate, this is not issued automatically upon the occurrence of a change, but must be requested in each case by the employee from the responsible HR department staff member, .
