General
Who can apply for a Germany Scholarship at THM ?
You can apply for a scholarship if you are enrolled at THM
- are enrolled and
- study within the standard period of study for your degree program.
- Provided the application process for a degree program at THM is not yet completed, an application is possible – subject to enrollment.
How good does my GPA need to be to be considered for a scholarship?
The selection process is heavily dependent on a comparison with all submitted applications, so it's possible for the grade point average to vary. This often depends on the specific degree program or Department , as the scholarships awarded Department are typically distributed differently
However, the Germany Scholarship is primarily aimed at gifted and dedicated students. The better their academic performance and the greater their commitment (e.g., through community involvement or volunteer work), the higher their chances of receiving the scholarship.

Application
How can I apply?
Applications are only accepted via an online portal. Access will be activated on this page as soon as the application process begins. You will need to create a user account there, after which you will be directed to the application form. You can edit your information until the application deadline.
When does the application process start?
The Germany Scholarship is only awarded at THM for the winter semester. The application period usually runs from mid-July to mid-August. The exact application period will be published on this page in due course.
I can't find my course of study in the application form. What can I do?
This should only apply to Degree Courses offered in cooperation with another university. If you are enrolled in a cooperative degree program, you can only apply for the Germany Scholarship at the university where you initially enrolled in your chosen degree program (where you also pay your semester fees).
If you are certain that this is not a cooperative degree program and that THM is the university where you are initially enrolled, please inform us. We will then find a solution together.
Do my documents need to be in a specific file format?
Yes, please note that all documents you add to your application must be in PDF format.

Not all of this semester's grades have been recorded yet. Should I wait to submit my application?
No, that's not necessary. If you are currently enrolled at THM , we will retrieve an up-to-date transcript of your grades from the central gradebook on a specific date after the application deadline. Therefore, no application received at the beginning of the application period will be disadvantaged. Furthermore, you can submit your application via the portal and edit it until the end of the application period.
Can I submit additional documents?
No, only in exceptional circumstances – for example, if you haven't yet received your graduation certificate – and after prior consultation, can you submit documents later.
Please note that the date your application is received within the application period does not affect the awarding of the scholarship. You can edit your application via the portal until the application deadline. This means you can exchange documents or update your information. Once the application process is closed, you can no longer make any changes.
Can I apply for the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship if I am doing or planning a semester abroad?
If you remain enrolled at THM (and are within your standard period of study), you can also apply for or receive a scholarship during a semester abroad.
When will I receive feedback on my application?
Each applicant will receive feedback on their application by mid-October at the latest. Please refrain from inquiring about the outcome of the selection process before then.
The selection of scholarship recipients will be made by a selection committee based on the submitted documents and in accordance with the THMguidelines.
If the notifications are only sent at the end of October, when will the scholarship be paid out?
The funding period begins in October, coinciding with the start of the winter semester, with the first payment to scholarship recipients usually made in November. The amount for October is then paid retroactively.
Can I apply if I'm in my final semester? Are the scholarships always awarded for one year?
If you are in your final semester of studies (or within your standard period of study), you can also apply for a Germany Scholarship. If you are selected, the scholarship will be awarded until the end of your studies, and any scholarships that become available will then be awarded to those on the waiting list.
Financial support
How much funding is available?
The Germany Scholarship amounts to €300 per monthnat. It is granted regardless of income or parental background and is not counted towards BAföG (Federal Training Assistance Act).
How long can I receive funding through the Germany Scholarship program?
The Deutschlandstipendium scholarship typically lasts 12 months (starting October 1st), but no longer than the standard period of study. An extension of the scholarship – after reapplying – is possible. This requires that THM has sufficient funds available, that you continue to meet the eligibility requirements, and that any sponsors also wish for an extension.
I will complete my bachelor's degree during the funding period and then directly continue with my master's. Can I receive continuous funding for this period?
Continuous funding is generally possible, provided you complete your Bachelor's degree within the standard period of study during the funding period and enroll in a Master's program at THM without interruption. The duration of any interruption depends on the date of your last examination. Please inform us of this date in any case and submit your Bachelor's degree certificate and a current certificate of enrollment for the Master's program as soon as you receive them.
What obligations will I have if I am selected for the Germany Scholarship?
Receiving a Germany Scholarship does not generally entail any obligations towards the sponsoring organization or THM . However, we would like to point out that it may be in your own interest and to your advantage to participate in events related to the Germany Scholarship. This could lead to important contacts or offer you opportunities for theses, projects, internships, or similar positions.
extension
I currently receive a Deutschlandstipendium scholarship and would like to extend it. How is that possible?
To extend your scholarship, you must reapply via the portal.
We will contact all funding bodies to inquire whether they intend to extend, re-advertise, or possibly discontinue the scholarships. If no funding is available to extend the scholarship, the extension application will automatically be treated as a new application for the current application period.
