The professional profile of the Master's programme in real estate and facility management is aimed at systematic economic support and understanding for the operation of real estate through professional management. On the one hand, the building is viewed as a asset and on the other hand as an essential framework for the infrastructure for companies and non-profit organizations. The focus is on the imparting of competencies in economic and technical fields as well as ecological problems of real estate operations. The property is to be understood as a strategic resource of the company and their importance is recognized as an asset from a balance sheet perspective as well as their importance as a functional framework for the entire operational infrastructure.
Studies
study content
Building on the contents of the bachelor's degree, students are taught further skills to recognize economic ways of thinking and actions and to analyze and process them using business administration methods and/or engineering tools. Students specializing in facility management are trained to become generalists who are able to handle the complexity of secondary processes by being aware of the diverse interdependencies of the individual processes and the individual components. Students majoring in Technical Asset Management deal with the distribution of assets across different risk and asset classes, with the compilation of property portfolios, carry out property valuations and check property usage concepts for plausibility.
The practical relevance is conveyed to the students, among other things, through various laboratory events and through industrial projects. The master's theses are mainly carried out in industry and thus enable an insight into a possible future area of application after the end of the course.
As part of the teaching, the development of social skills among the students is promoted. In many modules of the master's programme, working in groups is an important prerequisite for achieving good results. The aim of the student working groups is, among other things, to develop communication and teamwork skills. By imparting broad basic knowledge and methodological competence, flexible employment opportunities are created for the students in later professional life. Test reports, presentations and colloquia as part of the module examinations promote the students' ability to document and present results and projects.
Dual study variant (MS+I)
The dual study variant (MS+I) has the study goal of conveying the competence goals of the regular study variant to the students and scientifically accompanying the transfer of what has been learned to professional practice at the university. Through the cooperation partner of the dual study variant (MS+I) planned dual practice phases, the students should be particularly professionally and personally prepared for professional life. During the lecture period, the students attend the modules of the course in accordance with the examination regulations. In the lecture -free period, they provide part of their self -study in the company of the cooperation partner. According to the dual study variant (MS+I) of the Master's degree in real estate and facility management, the students complete the regular events of the real estate and facility management during the lecture period. The dual practical phases take place in the lecture -free period in the company of the cooperation partner of the dual study variant (MS+I). During this time, part of the self -study must be provided. This enables the content to be transferred directly to the practice in the company of the cooperation partner.
All information can be found on the Page of the dual study models.
focal points
facility management
As a study goal, a cross -subject holistic concept is sought, which includes the solution of engineering, economic and legal tasks in building management. In addition to well-founded technical and business training, great emphasis is placed on team and management skills. Specializations, e.g. B. on plant operation or the management of public buildings are possible. The graduates of the real estate and facility management course with a focus on facility management:
- Derive and implement strategies for building management,
- Control real estate using suitable controlling instruments,
- Develop interdisciplinary approaches to optimize secondary processes,
- make a positive contribution to the entire value chain,
- map and optimize the facility processes within the building cycle using suitable simulation programmes.
The main fields of use of this focus lie in the provision of needs-based areas as well as their optimization and administration, in the provision and securing of infrastructure systems, the development of efficient management concepts and the use of the use of efficient information and communication techniques. The graduates can process these fields of application independently.
The courses are listed below. The numbers indicate for each semester how many hours per week or how many credit points are provided in the respective subject. There are 90 in total credit points to acquire. The standard period of study is 3 semesters, which are divided into 2 semesters of theory studies and 1 semester of master's thesis. The language of instruction is basically German, English language modules can be integrated. You can find out more about the content of the individual events in the module handbook.

Technical asset management
The focus of the focus of technical asset management is to support in the optimization of property portfolios and to ensure that the assets are distributed to different risk and investment classes. The graduates of the real estate and facility management course with a focus on technical asset management:
- analyze economic relationships and transferred to a building portfolio from return and risk considerations,
- Develop investment and disinvestment strategies for building stands,
- Formulate strategies of the investor and implement them by means of suitable sub -goals,
- classify a building portfolio from a risk point of view,
- bring about economic, ecological, technical and legal facts.
The main areas of application of this focus are in the real estate industry in the areas of management of real estate funds, project management as well as in real estate financing, development, management and marketing. The graduates can process these task fields independently.

Without a focus
The course can also be studied without a focus. The focus selection depends on the compulsory module of the focus, the selection of the Elective modules and the topic of master thesis. If the compulsory module of the focus of 5 CRP, Elective modules in the extent of 10 CRP and the master thesis of 30 CRP are completed from a focus - a total of 45 CRP - the focus is entered on the certificate. If you study "without a focus", you have the opportunity to choose from all Elective modules in order to qualify wider if necessary.

particularities
Learning property
With the learning property, the students should be able to obtain a higher practical relevance on the one hand and to illustrate the interdisciplinarity and thematic links of the course. Based on various on site, the students will expand objects of technical and methodological skills, but of course also their social and self-competence. As part of these areas of competence, they learn to organize and design, formulate and present, illustrate and calculate, analyze and criticize, and criticize, and to examine and examine it. These on site objects will also be accessible in VR by our VR laboratory, in order to allow students to access the objects as part of their studies - outside of excursions. The Learning property is not shown as an independent module, but also serves the students, the teachers but also the cooperation partner as a practical bridge between our HAW and the professional world. We are happy to be able to work with the Eberbach monastery here.
