In the dual bachelor's degree programme in engineering and electrical engineering, students are able to recognize engineering tasks and problems and to solve them scientifically and methodically. They learn how to optimally use and optimize the technologies available in electrical engineering.
The course builds on a wide range of engineering and scientific basic subjects and combines them with the modern, professionally oriented subjects of general electrical engineering and computer engineering.
In the first three semesters, the classic basic modules in electrical engineering predominate, e.g. B. mathematics, physics, basics of electrical engineering, transformations, microcomputer technology, digital technology and electronics. The higher semesters are characterized by an in-depth application-oriented range of courses in the respective subject area.
Studies
course of study
In the three and a half year dual bachelor's degree, theory (at the university) and practice (during the time in the company) take place alternately. The dual course begins with an introductory phase that begins in August. During this time, the student gets to know the company and its procedures and processes. Lectures for the first semester begin in October. After the first, second and third semester there is one practical phase instead of. Following the fourth semester, the fifth semester offers the opportunity to set an individual specialist focus or to spend a semester abroad. The fifth semester is followed by the project study, which extends over the entire sixth semester. Apart from two-day theory modules at StudiumPlus , the students work in their partner company and work on larger projects within its framework. The seventh semester starts with the practical part of the thesis in the company. Theoretical block modules then take place at the university. In the last month of their studies, the students prepare in the company for the colloquium that takes place at the end of their studies.
Digital teaching concept
The compulsory modules of the field of technical computer science of the dual bachelor's degree in engineering electrical engineering (B.Eng.) Can take place both virtually and in presence from the 4th semester as hybrid courses. The aim of the hybrid format in this area is to combine the advantages of increased temporal and spatial flexibility and ecological sustainability with the intensive personal exchange. In addition, the Elective modules of the 5th semester for all disciplines usually take place as virtual courses.
About StudiumPlus
A full university degree, intensive practical experience and above-average career opportunities: StudiumPlus offers this perspective to young people who are motivated to learn and perform. StudiumPlus is an innovative dual study concept. This is backed by three strong partners: the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) as the largest university of applied sciences in Hesse, the CompetenceCenter Duale Hochschulstudien StudiumPlus e. V. (CCD), in which more than 950 partner companies and institutions are combined, as well as the Chamber Association of Central Hesse under the leadership of the IHK Lahn-Dill.

Specialties
general electrical engineering
The field of general electrical engineering deals with a very broad field of application, ranging from the efficient generation, distribution and use of electrical energy to the storage, further processing and use of information in communications and automation technology. State-of-the-art tools such as computer technology, digital networks, micromechanical sensors and actuators are used for this purpose. These can be, for example, complex system components such as motors with position or speed sensors. The range of systems used in electrical engineering ranges from pure software solutions (control software for vehicles, household appliances) through digital circuits (microcomputers, power electronics) to complex systems (power plants, railway technology ICE, radio equipment). Successful completion enables you to take on qualified specialist and managerial tasks in various industries, as you are able to define necessary requirements, select components and systems available on the market and configure them on the hardware and software side, as well as analyze and eliminate malfunctions .

Technical computer Science
The field of computer engineering deals with computers that are integrated into other technical systems. Graduates of the Technical Informatics course are in demand because technical systems accompany our lives: from game consoles and mobile phones to household appliances, automobiles and manufacturing plants. We expect all of these technical systems to be functional and easy to use. Graduates master interdisciplinary work at the interface between hardware and software. You will be able to programme microcomputers in devices (embedded systems) of consumer electronics in households, in motor controls, in machine tools, in industrial plants and in measurement technology. In addition, they can work on, control and manage small and large projects consisting of software and hardware components. They are also used in the planning, construction and operation of the networking of processors, computers and applications.
