The aim of the Bachelor of Science course in Event Management and Technology (EMT) is to enable you to comprehensively plan, implement and control events, taking into account the business, technical and creative requirements. EMT therefore concentrates on imparting relevant interface skills from both a business and technical point of view and integrates them into an overall concept, taking into account creative and artistic aspects.
In the course of your studies, you will be taught the scientific basics so that you can act independently in the future professional field of the event industry. The choice of a major also lays the foundation for special expertise in the field of marketing and event management or event/AV media technology. Graduates enter the labor market with a clearly recognizable qualification profile and are mainly employed at the operational level in the company, for example in project management.

study content
The first three semesters form the basic phase. Here you visit modules from both areas (marketing and event management as well as event technology) and thus lay the foundation for the selection of focus. For the transition to the 4th semester, you must demonstrate 90% of the CRP to be achieved in the basic phase. From the 4th semester, they immerse themselves in their selected focus on marketing and event management or event technology, but continue to show ( Elective ) modules from the other focus.
In this way, you build up your expert knowledge in your area of specialization and can prove this in the practical phase (BPP) in the 7th semester. During the BPP, you decide on the topic of your thesis, and you may even do so in cooperation with your BPP company. After you have obtained your Bachelor of Science degree, the path to the Master's programme in Strategic Live Communication (SLK) is open to you.
A special focus is placed at EMT in the course of imparting business knowledge on marketing and event management and the successful positioning of companies and brands through events. In addition to
- Live communication 1/2, consisting of event management 1/2 and marketing 1/2
- Knowledge of project management and
- conveyed project management.
In order to be able to plan and implement an event successfully, a second focus is on teaching event-related skills such as
- Basics of event technology, consisting of lighting, video and audio 1
- rigging
- Electrical Engineering 1/2 and
- IT for event technology 1/2
and the questions: How do I put a brand in the right light? How can companies make their voices heard?
The offer is completed by practical lectures, a practical phase (if possible abroad) and by an Elective area in the respective priorities.
Apply for the EMT course and acquire a scientifically sound, practice-oriented and professionally qualifying university degree (Bachelor of Science), which prepares you optimally for the event industry through the various subject areas listed below.

practical orientation
The practical experience and the work in projects will help you to acquire the skills that are required in practice in view of the speed of technical development, the ongoing digitization of the event industry and the rapidly changing framework conditions associated with it, namely the independent development and application of new areas of knowledge and the transfer to the events industry.
During your studies you have many opportunities to experience practical orientation, be it through the practical phase (BPP), through projects during your studies, a semester abroad or by using our teaching stage and media laboratories as well as by participating in practical lectures and expert talks.
Recommendations and bridging courses
mathematics and physics knowledge
In order to lay the foundations for the field of event technology, the curriculum provides for the modules mathematics and physics in the first semester, the contents of which are also required in the following semesters (including electrical engineering, lighting, etc.).
Difficulty in math or physics? Visit the bridging courses.
For those who fear difficulties in the natural sciences or who would like to refresh their knowledge, there is the possibility of so-called Bridge courses to prove. Before the start of lectures, the THM offers one-week, fee-based bridging courses to make it easier for you to start your studies as efficiently as possible.
