The Master's degree programme in Media Informatics, degree M.Sc., will finally be discontinued at the end of the winter semester 2026/27. The last admission took place in the winter semester of 2023/24. Re-enrollment, especially in higher semesters, is not possible.
Anyone who enjoys producing and preparing information for digital media in a target group-oriented manner and designing, introducing and supervising complex multimedia systems can deepen their knowledge in the media informatics master’s programme with a focus on “media production” or “web and mobile applications”.

The Master's programme allows you to focus your studies on one of the two main areas "Web and mobile applications" and "Media production".
Graduates of the "Web and Mobile Applications" major have in-depth skills for planning, developing and evaluating software in heterogeneous teams. They are able to design and develop IT systems for the production and distribution of media.
In the "Media Production" major, graduates have in-depth skills to independently design, implement and evaluate media productions in the field of 3D as well as audio and video. They are able to use the appropriate methods of analysis, conception, realization and embedding for the production and distribution of media and media products.

The course trains graduates in the field of media informatics who, thanks to the master’s degree, are able to take on strategic and management tasks or to pursue an academic career. The course prepares you for demanding professional fields in companies, in the public sector or in self-employment. However, it can also be the basis for further academic qualification in a subsequent doctoral procedure.

requirements | (1) The master’s degree in media informatics builds consecutively on a first professional qualification from a university in the field of media informatics with a standard study period of 6 semesters (180 CrP). The course can also lead to a first university degree with a professional qualification Build up the standard period of study of 6 semesters (180 CrP) in a related course. The examination board decides whether this requirement is met. (2) Access to the Media Informatics master's programme is only possible if a first professionally qualifying university degree according to paragraph 1 can be proven and the Overall grade of this first professional university degree at least "good" (at least 72.5 percentage points according to § 9 paragraph 2 of part I of the examination regulations; 2.5). If the overall grade is not achieved, the applicant can request a Take an aptitude test. (3) Foreign applicants for the Media Informatics master’s degree, who the first professional university degree in a non-German language degree must have been acquired by the end of the specified by the THM at the latest Enrollment deadline for the master’s degree in Media Informatics German language skills in accordance with the “Framework Regulations for German Language Examinations for Studies German universities" in the currently valid version. Appropriate Evidence is, for example, the German language test for university admission (DSH-2) or the German as a foreign language test (TestDaF with at least 4 points in each area). |
