The master's programme Medical Physics offers you the unique opportunity to combine modern physics with direct clinical application. They deepen their physical expertise and use it specifically in medical diagnostics and therapy.
Our curriculum comes to life through close cooperation with renowned clinic partners who bring authentic questions from everyday clinical practice directly to the study.
He qualifies them for one of the most sought -after key roles in modern healthcare: working as a certified Medical physics expert (MPE). In addition to the master's degree, you acquire five officially recognized radiation protection certificates-essential building blocks for later professional approval after two years of clinical practice. For you, this means: fewer hurdles, faster entry, clear path to a meaningful clinical career. Whether in the hospital, in research or in medical technology - this course positions it at the interface of science, technology and patient care.
Studies
study content
In the first phase of study, you acquire well -founded basic knowledge in medical physics. A balanced curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with practical use - conveyed by experienced professors and professors as well as clinical experts. Mandatory modules ensure the technical basis, while a wide selection of election modules enables you to set individual priorities - according to your interests and career goals.
In the second phase of study, the focus is on the application: You work in practical courses, use modernly equipped laboratories from the university and take part in clinical courses directly in our partner clinics. There you will learn side by side with specialists from radiology, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy - including particle therapy - and get a practical insight into modern processes and technologies of everyday clinical life.
The studies are rounded off by a six -month master thesis, which you have practical in a clinic, a company or on our Institute for Medical Physics & Radiation Protection can carry out.
In addition to professional and clinical competence, we also specifically strengthen your interdisciplinary key qualifications: scientific communication, teamwork and intercultural competence- important skills for your career in an increasingly international research and health landscape.
Another plus: On Fridays is with us Digital Friday - All courses take place exclusively online on this day. This means more flexibility, reduced pendulum times and an early start to the weekend - or simply more space for self -study, part -time jobs or travel.

job prospects
perspectives
With the master's degree in Medical physics open up excellent career opportunities in a dynamically growing professional field - at the interface of science, technology and medicine.
As a graduate, you are excellently qualified for activities in clinics, research institutes, authorities and in the medical technology industry. Medical physicists are particularly in demand in the areas of radiology, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy, where they take on a central role in the security, quality and further development of imaging and therapeutic methods.
A special advantage: With the successful degree as well as the acquired radiation protection certificates, you already meet important prerequisites for recognition as a medical physics expert in accordance with the Radiation Protection Ordinance-a native and clinically highly relevant professional title.
In addition, you also have ways into industrial research, product development, quality assurance, approval and regulatory affairs - especially in medical technology companies that specialize in imaging systems or radiation -based therapies.
Many of our graduates also opt for a doctorate and continue their scientific career at home or abroad.
Study variants
German and English study variant
The master's programme Medical Physics Can be studied in English - ideal for international applicants or for everyone who strives for a scientific or clinical career in an international environment.
Both the compulsory modules and numerous election modules are taught in English and create an international, inclusive learning environment.
Depending on the language skills and interests, you also have a selection of German -language election modules - the design of your individual study combination remains completely flexible.
A change between the English and the German variant is possible at any time during the course of the course, provided that the corresponding language requirements are met.
Language requirements at an overview:
For the English -language variant, you have to demonstrate basic knowledge in German at the A1 level in order to find your way around in everyday life.
If you already have a German -language first university degree, the proof of an additional German certificate is not necessary.
In addition, knowledge of English at level B2 is required so that you can actively participate in the courses and contribute to scientific discussions.

requirements | To include the Medical Physics Master's course, you need a bachelor's degree or an equivalent conclusion with an final grade of at least "satisfactory" (2.7 or better) in medical physics, physics, biomedical technology or a related technical course with a clear relationship to physical and medical content. Ideally, your first degree includes 210 credit points (CRP) according to the ECTS system. In this case, you can get into the master's degree directly and without further requirements. A application is also possible with a conclusion of at least 180 CRP. In this case, you acquire the missing position on additional modules that you complete in parallel to your master's degree. So we ensure that you reach a total of 300 CRP until the degree - according to the requirements for a consecutive master's degree. If individual technical foundations are missing from your bachelor's degree, we offer you targeted supplementary modules with which you can easily catch up with the necessary knowledge. So you start well prepared in the academic and clinical content of the master's programme. |
Language requirements | German -language variant: Knowledge of English must be demonstrated at level B1 of the common European reference framework in order to be able to understand English -language specialist literature. For foreign applicants who have acquired their first university degree in a non-German-language course: proof of good German skills (e.g. DSH-2, TestDaf with at least 4 points in every area). English -language variant: Basic knowledge of basic German at level A1 (or equivalent a German-language first university degree) must be detected. English skills at level B2 are required for the course of study to actively participate in courses and scientific discussions. |
