With their specialist knowledge, midwives support women during pregnancy, right through to childbirth, childbirth, breastfeeding and becoming a family. You will work in smaller and larger teams as well as independently.

A federal law that came into force in 2020 reformed midwifery training in Germany and made the academization of the qualification path the standard. From now on, midwives are to be trained within the framework of Degree Courses n, which are designed to be dual.

The full-time dual study programme in midwifery was jointly developed by the Department of Health at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen, to the Faculty of medicine at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen as well as, as the responsible practice institution, the University Hospital Gießen and Marburg GmbH (UKGM) / Gießensite.

a notice	The course is a cooperation between Department of Health at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen, to the Faculty of medicine at the Justus Liebig University in Gießen as well as the University Hospital Gießen and Marburg GmbH (UKGM) / Gießensite.
admission mode	Admission to the course takes place after a separate selection process.
requirements	Access to the dual bachelor’s degree requires: 1. A higher education entrance qualification according to Section 10 Paragraph 1 No. 1a HebG in the currently valid version after at least 12 years of schooling or a qualification according to Section 10 Paragraph 1 No. 1b HebG in the currently valid version. 2. The conclusion of a contract for academic midwifery training with the Universitätsklinikum Gießen und Marburg GmbH (UKGM) as the responsible practice institution according to § 1 of the cooperation agreement for the implementation of a joint dual bachelor's degree in midwifery between the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen and the Justus Liebig University Gießen. Before the contract is concluded, the responsible practice facility must be provided with a current medical certificate confirming that you are fit to practice as a midwife. In addition, before the contract is concluded, an extended certificate of good conduct must be used to prove that the applicant is not guilty of any behavior that would make it unworthy or unreliable to complete midwifery studies. 3. in the case of foreign applicants, sufficient knowledge of German, proven e.g. B. by successfully completing the "German language test for university admission (DSH-2)" or by successfully completing the "Test German as a foreign language (TestDaF, with a result of at least 4x4 points)" or by successfully passing the "Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung (ZOP)" “ from the Goethe Institute or another proof that at least corresponds to the above (according to the currently valid resolution of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs).
Basic internship	A pre-study internship totaling 200 hours is strongly recommended for the dual bachelor's degree in midwifery.
