Up to 5% of available study places are reserved for applicants with a recognized hardship application. These places are awarded to individuals for whom rejection of their chosen course of study would constitute exceptional hardship.

The hardship application must be submitted informally , but requires a written justification and suitable supporting documentation . Exceptional hardship exists in the following cases:

• special health circumstances (specialist medical report),
• special family or social circumstances (suitable documents to prove them),
• Late resettlement in conjunction with comparable studies in the country of origin (certificate of late resettlement and proof of previous studies),
• Previous admission to the requested course of study; however, the place could not be accepted for reasons beyond the applicant's control (e.g., illness) (previous admission notice and proof of the reason for the impediment)
• Special social or family reasons that necessitate an immediate change of study location (current proof of enrollment and evidence to justify the change of study location)
