No, that's not necessary. If you are studying at the THM , we will retrieve a current excerpt of your grades from the central grade administration on a key date after the application deadline. This means that no application received at the beginning of the application period is disadvantaged. You can also submit your application via the portal and change it up to the end of the application period.
Who should I address my letter of motivation to?
You can address the letter of motivation to the selection committee; there is not a single contact person. For the address field, please use the postal address of THM : Wiesenstr. 14, 35390 Gießen
Can I still submit documents?
No, only in important exceptional cases - for example if you have not yet received your final certificate etc. - can you submit documents after prior agreement.
Please note that it does not affect the awarding of the scholarship when your application is received. You can use the portal to process your application up to the end of the application period. You can therefore exchange documents or update your information. Once the application process is closed, you can no longer make any changes.
Can I apply for the Deutschlandstipendium if I am doing or planning a semester abroad?
If you are still enrolled at the THM (and are within your standard period of study), you can also apply for or receive a scholarship during a semester abroad.
When will I receive feedback on my application?
Every applicant will receive feedback on their application by mid-October at the latest. Please refrain from asking questions about the outcome of the selection process beforehand.
The scholarship holders are selected by a selection committee according to the THM guidelines based on the documents submitted.
If the notifications are not sent out until the end of October, when will the scholarship be paid out?
The funding period starts together with the winter semester in October, the first payment to the scholarship holders usually takes place in November. The amount for October will then be paid out retrospectively.
Can I also apply if I am in my final semester? Are the scholarships always awarded for one year?
If you are in the last semester of your studies (or your standard period of study), you can also apply for a Deutschlandstipendium. If you are selected, the scholarship will only be awarded for one semester and scholarships that have become available will be awarded to successors from the summer semester.
financial support
How big is the promotion?
The Deutschlandstipendium is €300 per month. It is granted independently of income and parents and is not counted towards BAFÖG.
How long can I be supported by the Deutschlandstipendium?
Funding through the Deutschlandstipendium usually lasts 12 months (from October 1st), but no longer than the end of the standard period of study. An extension of the funding - after a new application - is possible. The prerequisite for this is that the THM has sufficient financial resources at its disposal.
I will finish my bachelor's degree during the funding period and then continue straight away with my master's degree. Can I be funded consistently?
Yes, continuous funding is possible if you complete your bachelor's degree within the standard period of study during the funding period and have enrolled for a master's degree at the THM without a break. In this case, please send us your bachelor's certificate and a current certificate of study for the master's degree as soon as you have it.
What are my obligations if I am selected for the Deutschlandstipendium?
In principle, receiving a Deutschlandstipendium does not entail any obligations towards the sponsor or the THM . However, we would like to point out that it may be in your own interest and to your advantage to take part in events related to the Deutschlandstipendium. This can result in important contacts or you can be offered final theses/project work, internships or similar.
renewal
I currently have a Germany scholarship and would like to extend it. How is that possible?
To extend the scholarship, you must apply again via the portal.
We ask all sponsors whether they would like to extend the scholarships, re-advertise them or even end them. If no funding is available to extend the scholarship, the application for an extension will automatically be treated as a new application for the current application process.
