“Five years of GUT – that means five years of sustainable cooperation between the university and the company.” This is how Prof. Nikolaus Zieske, the dean of the construction department, opened the fifth “ Gießen Unternehmenstag” (GUT) at the TH Mittelhessen. He said the most important purpose was to give students the “opportunity to contact companies in the surrounding and wider region”. He outlined a wide range of questions that prospective civil engineers and architects at THM can ask the assembled company representatives. This ranges from finding an internship to finding out about your own professional focus, expressing interest in solving a company task in your final thesis, to inquiring about employment opportunities after your studies.
City councilor Astrid Eibelshäuser delivered the welcome greetings from the magistrate and emphasized the great importance of such a contact fair for young academics and at the same time for the region. With this event, the TH Mittelhessen makes a "contribution to the retention of skilled workers in the region". She summarized: “The Gießen Company Day is good for our city. But Gießen is also a good location for universities and companies.”
A total of 23 exhibitors presented themselves in the university's Hugo-von-Ritgen-Haus and took the opportunity to inform students personally at the stands about their cooperation offers and products. Regular guests from the central Hesse area such as Bickardt, Christmann & Pfeifer, Faber & Schnepp and Lupp were represented, but also, for example, Deutsche Bahn AG, Hottgenroth Software GmbH and Xella Germany. Associations and clubs in the construction industry once again accepted the invitation to use the GUT as a platform for presenting their services.
The programme also included a series of specialist lectures by external speakers who dealt with topics such as "Planning and Building 4.0", "Floors and furniture made of concrete" and "Consequences of the energy transition for the monolithic construction of bricks".
