After a tour of the apron, the students heard a lecture on the question "How much facility management does an international airport need?"

With 1,200 employees for technology and infrastructure management, Fraport AG maintains operations with 60 million passengers a year and an area of ​​22 square kilometers, where a total of 80,000 employees work. A behind-the-scenes tour rounded off the programme. There the guests were able to inspect the heating, air conditioning, smoke extraction and sprinkler systems and learned a lot about their maintenance and repairs.

According to Silke Wehmer, head of the THM international department, the topics of the excursion offered the students many ideas for possible study and final theses at the university.
