In Gießen and Friedberg, the University Information Days (HIT) of the TH Mittelhessen once again offered schoolchildren a compact programme on Degree Courses , universities and career prospects. Around 2,500 young guests accepted the invitation to gain insights into academic operations, which can help when choosing a course.
All departments of the THM had organized programmes with presentations and sample lectures on the two mornings with the support of the central students advisory service . The spectrum of introductory information ranged from an overview of the Hessian university landscape to the description of different types of university and explanation of the entry requirements to the presentation of teaching and research at the TH Mittelhessen. This was followed by a detailed presentation of the respective course of study and professional field, which was the main interest of the young people.
In many cases, visitors were also given the opportunity to get to know places of learning during laboratory tours, which have an important function in the practice-oriented training concept of a university of applied sciences. For example, the students at the Department Mechanical and Energy Engineering in Gießen found out, among other things, what happens in the laboratories for air conditioning, energy conversion and process engineering. On the Friedberg campus, for example, anyone interested in the Media Informatics or Business Informatics Degree Courses could talk to students and teachers in the “Open Lab”.
At the THM Wetzlar location, where StudiumPlus is based, and for the first time also at its branches in Bad Hersfeld, Bad Vilbel, Bad Wildungen, Biedenkopf, Frankenberg and Limburg, those responsible also awaited prospective students with special information programmes.
The HIT is a joint initiative of the TH Mittelhessen and the Justus Liebig University Gießen . They are aimed primarily at students in high school grades 12 and 13 and the final classes of technical colleges.
