In order for you to have a good start at the THM as an exchange student, please note the following information:

COVID-19 pandemic
Please be aware of the new regulations for travelers to Germany. As of June 11, 2022, all COVID-19 entry restrictions to Germany will be provisionally lifted. However, if you have at any time within the last 10 days prior to entering Germany, stayed in a region classified as an "area of ​​variants of concern", you are required to do the following:

1.Complete a digital entry declaration

2. Provide a negative test result (PCR, PoC-NAAT, etc).

The test result cannot be older than 48 hours to the time of your entry into Germany.

3. Quarantine upon arrival.

You are required to isolate yourself immediately for 14 days (home quarantine) upon arrival. This cannot be completed in the student dormitories. Therefore, an extra accommodation will have to be booked. A test for COVID, taken at the earliest after 5 days of quarantine, can end the quarantine if negative.

*These rules also apply to vaccinated and recovered individuals who have stayed in an "area of ​​variants of concern" within the last 10 days prior to entering Germany.

The THM has two semesters each year. The academic year begins in October with the autumn semester. The spring semester begins in April. lake  semester & lecture timetable for current information.

Do you wish to begin your studies in the autumn semester? Apply by 1 June
Do you wish to begin your studies in the spring semester? Apply by 1 December



The language of instruction for most modules at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen ( THM ) is German. We therefore expect a level of B1 German language skills from our exchange students.

If you have chosen an English language programme at THM , we expect English proficiency at the level of B2.

The THM cooperates with the Justus Liebig University of Giessen (JLU). The JLU organizes and conducts German language courses every semester. You can include these language courses directly in your LA / PSP and let them get recognized by your home university with credit points. You can find more information in the next block.

German language courses taking place before the start of the semester (as preparation):

- For the autumn semester: International Summer Course (HSK)
- For the spring semester: International Spring Course (IFK)

German language courses during the lecture period (in the current semester):

- German "evening course" in autumn and in spring semester
