Certificate, Training and ICE Buddy Module

Certificate and Training

By participating in the International Buddy Programme you can gain important intercultural experience (such as becoming acquainted with other cultures and possibly improving your foreign language skills). For your commitment, you will receive a certificate of your participation in the THM programme. This document may be useful for you in the future, such as when applying for a job.

I) How can I get a certificate for participating in the programme?
At the end of the spring semester 2020, a certificate will be issued for "regular attendance" and the care of a buddy. Regular attendance means that you have taken part in at least the following offers:

  • Completion of phases I-III in the Digital Buddy Programme (see Moodle: IBP_Buddy Teams)
  • Participation in the Buddy Challenge (see Moodle: IBP_Buddy Teams)
  • Participation in a digital event (see the semester social programme online)

II) “Intercultural Competence and Encounters” Buddy Module
You can earn three credit points (ECTS) for your degree course (optional module).
Requirements: Active participation as a buddy in the International Buddy Programme, attendance of selected events from the programme of events offered as well as a written report about your experience as a buddy (three to five pages)
Optional module: as part of the undergraduate course in Social Media Systems (Department of Mathematics, Natural Sciences & Computer Science)
Languages:  German and English
Workload:  90 hours, including 30 contact hours in class

III) Participation in an intercultural training seminar for THM staff members
Would you like to become involved with helping international students and students with a refugee background as a volunteer? You could really make a difference in helping these students get off to a good start with their university education. Would you like to get to know other cultures and possibly improve your foreign language skills?

THM's Buddy Programme also offers THM staff members the opportunity to take part in the programme.

Taking part in the International Buddy Programme can be counted as employee training. The requirements are completion of an employee training programme, intercultural training seminar and an evaluation.
