APPLICATION
KNOWLEDGE OF GERMAN
Language level for the application:
In order to be able to apply to the THM (preparatory college, bachelor's or master's degree), you need at least one certificate for language level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference. Applications below this level will not be forwarded to the THM by uni-assist.
Language level for the course:
Before you can enroll at the THM , you must at least a DSH-2 or an equivalent certificate achieved.
You can find an overview of the certificates that are accepted at the THM here.
THM cooperates with Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) and offers German courses from C1 to the DSH exam for prospective and prospective international students. You will receive an invitation to the DSH exam preparation course from us.
STUDENT
If your home certificates do not qualify you for direct university admission at the THM , you can acquire the technical requirements for a course of study (assessment test) by attending the "Studienkolleg" (preparation year).
International applicants to THM attend the Studienkolleg Mittelhessen (preparatory college in central Hesse). Classes are held in Giessen or Marburg, depending on the specific course.
There are various preparatory colleges in Germany, you can also apply there. Please inform yourself.
Study preparation programme Prepare & Start @THMplus
That Study preparation programme Prepare&Start@THMplus Prepare you optimally for studying engineering or computer science if you do not meet the linguistic and professional requirements for studying in Germany. You achieve direct university access for the THM and can choose between 20 mint- Degree Courses n.
Admission requirements:
- Access to higher education in the country where you graduated (e.g. access to the preparatory college)
- Knowledge of German at least at level B1
Application time:
- April 1st to July 15th for the winter semester
- October 1st to January 15th for the summer semester (Extended until February 15th, 2025)
You don't have to write an entrance exam.

ENROLLMENT | ENROLLMENT
Enrollment is the last step before you can start your studies.
After you have received a place to study, you will receive a message via the E-Campus application portal about which documents you still need to upload for enrollment.
Now you must:
- Register with a statutory health insurance company and inform them that you would like to enroll at the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen
- pay the current semester fee
Only applicants with admission will be asked to upload additional documents via the E-Campus.
- Copy of your passport
- Application for enrollment (from the portal)
- If you haven't already done so: your DSH-2 German certificate. You can find an overview of the certificates that are accepted at the THM here
WELCOME DAY FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Welcome Day is the beginning of your studies. You can take part in the Welcome Day approximately 7 days before the start of the semester.
The Welcome Day is aimed at international bachelor and master students in the first semester. This applies regardless of whether you completed your first degree abroad or in Germany. There you will receive important information about starting your studies and get to know the International Office and other international students.
The Welcome Day is intended to make it easier to get started with your studies and provide valuable information. More information is available at go.thm.de/start_international
This event is not aimed at exchange students. There is an additional Orientation Day for you.
Application for university changers / higher semester
Course or specialist changer
They are enrolled at the THM and switch to an admission -free course within the THM . A review of the specialist commitment may be required.

University changer
You are keeping your current degree programme and changing universities (example: During your studies studying computer science at the University of Marburg and would like to study computer science at the THM ). A clearance certificate is also required.

Application for higher semesters
A application for a higher semester is only possible for students who have already achieved exam achievements in an equivalent course with the same conclusion and have not yet completed them.
A completed bachelor's degree is mandatory for the application in a higher semester in the master's degree.
