Visa and insurance issues
Good planning and timely preparation lay the foundation for a successful stay abroad. Below you will find an overview of things you need to take care of.
Visas
Visa for stays up to 90 days
- EU countries: If you come from an EU member state you generally do not need a visa to enter Germany
- Citizens of third countries: Please check well in advance if you need a visa on the website of the Federal Foreign Office. You can also ask the German Embassy in your country.
Insurance
Please ensure adequate health, accident and personal liability insurance throughout your stay in Germany.
The DAAD offers combined health, accident and personal liability insurance for academics who come to Germany. More information about the terms and conditions can be found here.

Accommodation arrangements will be planned by each participant individually.

Please note!
You cannot exchange foreign currencies into euros in Gießen , Friedberg or Wetzlar.
The last possibility to exchange foreign currency (both on arrival and departure) is in Frankfurt at the airport and/or at the main railway station.
The three campuses of the THM can be reached easily by public transportation such as plane, train or by car.

All three campuses of the THM are located in the wider area of the Metropolitan Region of Frankfurt/Main (distance to Frankurt 35 – 60 km) and each of the three cities and its surrounding areas offer a wide variety of leisure possibilities and interesting sights.
