Prepare&Start@THMplus prepares you optimally for studying at THM
- You gain direct university entrance to the THM
- You can choose between 20 MINT Degree Courses (you can find a list of Degree Courses here)
Application time:
April 1st to July 15th for the winter semester
October 1st to January 15th for the summer semester
The university assist application deadline for the winter semester 2025/26 was extended until August 15th.
Who can take part in the study preparation programme?
You must meet these requirements to take part in our study preparation programme:
- University entrance in the country where the school leaving certificate was received, e.g. B. Access to the preparatory college (if subject-related, in a technical subject - here you can check for yourself what type of university entrance qualification you have)
- Knowledge of German at least at level B1
You must not Write entrance exam
You can prove your German language skills with the following certificates:
- Goethe certificate B1
- ÖSD certificate B1
- TELC German B1
- German language diploma from the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs Level I - DSD I or DSD I PRO
- B1 from the Justus Liebig University Gießen after passing the exam
- Unicert i
How can i apply?
You have to get over it uni-assist Apply for the THM 's "Study Preparation Programme (PS)" and upload the following documents (with translations) digitally to the uni-assist portal:
- School leaving certificate (e.g. A-Levels, High School Diploma, Baccalaureat, Gaokao etc.)
- Grade overviews of your school leaving certificate (e.g. the A-levels s, the final exam or the last school year)
- (if available) Proof of study (university entrance examination, certificate of matriculation, overview of grades, certificate of completion, diploma) - stating the subject area/course of study and the courses taken
- Proof of German language skills
- Passport/proof of residence

Note: The number of places available in the Prepare&Start@THMplus study preparation programme is limited. There is no entitlement to be included in the Prepare&Start@THMplus programme.
How does the study preparation programme work?
The preparation programme takes place in Gießen and usually lasts 2 semesters.
In the first semester you will attend a German course up to level C1.1 as well as specialist courses in the areas of mathematics, physics, chemistry and computer science.
In the 2nd semester you will attend a German course up to level C1.2 as well as specialist courses in your desired degree programme.
After you have successfully completed the study preparation programme, you begin your specialist studies at the THM. You do not need to reapply.

Why should I choose the study preparation programme?
In the study preparation programme you have the following advantages:
- Targeted preparation for studying at the THM
- Individual guidance and support from student mentors and university employees
- Participation in courses in the desired course of study during study preparation (achievements can be recognized for the specialist course)
- Early integration into student life at THM through contact with other students
- Enrollment at THM (student ID)
- Student access to university infrastructure, e.g. E.g. cafeteria, library, THM fitness studio, THMadvice centers, etc.
- Semester ticket, with which you can travel free of charge on public transport throughout the RMV and NVV areas
- Direct enrollment in the specialist course after you have passed the study preparation programme (no further application necessary!)

How much do I have to pay?
Programme fee: EUR 990 per semester including course and examination fees (EUR 1980 in total)
Semester fee: approx. EUR 333.17 per semester
